2016 mylink in a '15 silverado?

just got a '15 ltz and the only thing that i would like to have from the 16 is the carplay and android auto (besides the 8spd tranny)

 

so is there any chance '15s will get software update that add carplay / andropid auto functionality?

 

if not do you think it would be possible to source a '16 mylink and swap it out? would dealer have to be involved?

There is another thread on this somewhere but from what it said (and it makes since and ticks me off) is NO WAY and GMC said no also that they would update the 15s (and i just bought a 15) because its a selling point for the 2016s. its good marketing for them to get ppl to buy the 2016s and to trade their 2014 and 15s to sell more 2016s.

Guessing with the HMI module, new screen and from what the video shows, a new radio module, it is going to be closer to $2000

I'm going to wait until April or MAy to see if GM actually rolls out Android Auto before I do it. Somehow I doudt they will. GM has a TERRIBLE record of following through on promised "updates" like this.

Try these people. They have upgrades and you can install the Nav unit with back up camera if you have the I04.

Pretty upset GM isn't even offering a upgrade that you could buy, knowing that even if there is a hardware change it's probably minimal. I'm not going to sell a truck just to get Carplay, but I probably won't be buying another GM.

Looks like two modules changed; one behind radio, one behind screen. Plus the software.
