Worth going to 35's 8" lift?

OK, so I'm ready to go bigger, and back to chrome. Currently I'm running 4" suspension lift with 305/55/20 -12. I'm wanting to go back to chrome wheels, and as long as I'm doing it, I think i wanna step up to 35x12.50's. I was told I should go to a mcgauphy 7½" lift. Just looking for thoughts, and opinions, especially photos, thanks :)

I would maybe go a little different route since you got the 4" already and have the money invested. I would say just add a 1.5" body lift then run 295s since they are 34.5" tires or you can squeeze 35s. Honestly tire size depends on the wheels and offset you choose. Some people don't want to trim at all but I was not afraid to trim.

OK, now i'm confused, 295's are taller than 305's? I thought that was the width. Thanks for the idea..

This is how the metrics are considered:

Tire Width is the width of the tire measured in millimeters from sidewall to sidewall. The first three-digit number in the tire size refers to the tire width. For instance, in a size P215/65 R15 tire, the width is 215 millimeters.

Aspect Ratio is the ratio of the height of the tire's cross-section to its width. The two-digit number after the slash mark in a tire size is the aspect ratio. For example, in a size P215/65 R15 tire, the 65 means that the height is equal to 65% of the tire's width. The bigger the aspect ratio, the bigger the tire's sidewall will be.

So for say 20s Nitto has 295/60 and 295/65 for tire options. The first one equals 33.9x11.6 and the second equals 35.1x11.6

Thats the look I'm going for, thanks steve

That would pretty much be your look if you add the 1.5" except .5" lower but that would make the tires look bigger so no big del

Just doing the approx math, the 35x12.50 would be two inches bigger than the 305/55/20's, and if I only lift 1½" I think it's going to rub worse than it already does... Someone told me that the mcgauphy 7" lift rides better than stock, I just don't want the tires/wheels to look "small" with that much lift... Make sense?

One thing to remember too is just like metric tires the 35" tires won't all be 35"s. Make sense? Like my Trail grapplers brand new were 35.6 or so inches tall and my toyos now measure exactly 35" tall. Also when going with aftermarket wheels you also got to take into not only height but also width of the new tires. That is why I suggested the 1.5BL with the 295s since the 295s are 34.5" tall and 11.6" wide but will give the look of 35s

I'm with ya, thanks for the help

No problem. I just know wheel and tire understandings oh too well from when i had my Xterra. It had tiny wheel wheels and stock tires and just going from a 70 to a 75 you rubbed or stock tire size to a wheel with .5" difference in backspacing you rubbed lol So you got to look at 3 factors when considering whether you'll rub or not and that's offset, tire height, and tire width because you think the designers designed the wheel well and arches to fit around the turning radius of that stock size wheel, height, and width and any alterations from that just wasn't of concern or thought up as an option by the designers.
