What Scanner/Code Reader do you use?

Well, as you have seen by my last thread with the video, I am now having electrical issues with my truck.

The gauges stop working for a few seconds and all the warning lights come on, and then the gauges start working and warning lights go off. This only happens a few times right after starting the first time of the day and that's it.

Even after installing a new battery, I still have the same problem.

 

It doesn't seem to be affecting anything yet, and doesn't leave the MIL on yet, so I thought I would get a scanner or code reader so if it does leave the MIL on, I can get the code and hopefully fix it before it does any other damage.

 

What Scanner or Code Reader do you guys use?

 

Now keep in mind, I am not going to be doing any major repairs, and on a scale of 1 to 10, where 10 is the hardest, I would probably tackle a 3 or 4. LOL

I have the Blue Driver by Lemur. It has tons of reading / function capability and I use it with my iPad.

I use an Innova 300 for scanning vehicles other than my pickup.

I know there are wireless scanners that plug into the OBD2 port and will link to your smart phone with an app. All I have seen are for Androids but nothing for Apple. A buddy of mine got one for about $40 and it was pretty impressive. I'm looking for one to go with my Iphone6.

I put one of these in each of my trucks and absolutely love it. I purchased so I could monitor transmission temps while towing my travel trailer and got so much more. ABS reader, code reader, emissions, etc. hundreds of monitors and I can also clear codes. I use torque app pro on my android and its fantastic! $24 from amazon. I also purchased an obd2 extension cable so that I can tuck this up in my dash. Been plugged in live 24/7 for two months now without issue. Also has a data logger that can be downloaded to a thumb drive and printed out so that I can present the live data to a mechanic if need be. It runs circle around any obd2 scanner that I've found including my dealers who wants $145 to scan my abs and who told me that I cannot monitor abs sensors live. He LIED!
