Hauling Roof Shingles

How much weight can I safely carry in the bed of my '03 Z71 with stock Firestones? I'm thinking 2000 lbs.

i hauled a half yard of dirt and 12 rolls of sod last wk

 

I was told the half yard of dirt was 1500 lbs.

 

Are you going to take a pallet?  I worked at a home improvement store and loaded many pallets into half ton trucks.  They could handle a pallet (forget if it was 40 bundles on a pallet).  Funny offtopic story.  We loaded 2 pallets into a lifted 79 short bed reg cab chevy.  Thing held it but would start.  We got our delivery truck (big international) hooked a tow strap up to it and pulled it out of the lumber yard.  It finally started later that day and made it home fine.  I had to shake my head and say ####

I hauled 11 squares of roofing in mine last November. 210lbs a square, so thats 2310lbs. It was a little saggy, but made it home from Home Depot ok.
