Go in there and ask them to do about 2K lower than that and hold out until they do it. It took me 5 hours of screwing around but managed to get my LT2 truck for 14K off sticker.

GM tacks on a price for the complimentary service that you don't see. I highly doubt that GM is replacing so many transmissions that their overall profits are eroded. Even if they are replacing say 10% of transmissions, they are still making money. At the end of the day, GM raises prices to make up for loses....they pass loses on to consumers. As to why they reduced the warranty, GM sells more trucks than all other truck manufacturers. Outside of RAM, the industry standard is 5yr/60k power train, since GM is selling more trucks than Ford, RAM, Toyota and Nissan, they don't need a warranty incentive to entice buyers, or to erode profits or raise prices.

My father and close friends are in the industry, almost all shops around here have gone to flat rate. So the dealer doesn't lose out, its the people that work on on the vehicles that do. They get almost no time to do the work or at least can't make time on it. I wold think on the free maintenance the dealer hopes to up sell on other normal wear and tear items.

Although, if they were making money on it why stop the program, it is great marketing if nothing else? I can see the manufacture losing out on warranty if they're putting in transmissions under 100k miles, I don't know about the GMs but shops that I have friends and family working at the service Ford fleet trucks always have at least one in for a transmission. They claim that its not so much with the GMs.

Fiat followed suit as well, 5yr/60k miles for 2016. http://news.pickuptrucks.com/2015/05/ram-cuts-powertrain-warranty-for-2016.html

That is roughly the same deal they were offering when I bought my 2014 in Sept of last year. I could not get any dealer within a 2 hour radius to go any lower though and none of them stopped me from going out the door. Funny thing is that when I started pricing them in August I got pretty close to that with only half of the advertised promotion discounts. It seems to me the dealer is actually coming out ahead when GM offers deeper discounts, they don't have to discount off their own profit as much.

Just stick to your plan and then purchase a new truck next fall. You will be able to get 11k off again at this time next year.
