Installed Range device, my results.

Ended up buying a range device for my 2015 Silverado 5.3. The unit does exactly what it says its going to do, disables AFM. I had no codes or any issues, plug it in and it worked. However the whole reason I bought the device is because I thought my "shudder" I was getting during some downshifts was due to the v4 to v8 transition. It wasn't. Im still getting a noticeable shudder when im very lightly accelerating (lugging pretty much). Im so disappointed with this vehicle at the moment. Dealer had nothing to say about the issue, I couldn't get it to do it during the test drive. I have a diablo on the way and am hoping for good results. Otherwise, for sale this thing will go.

How much for the range?

Im in the process of returning my Diablosport trinity tuner, messed up my pcm TWICE. Im probably the only one its happened to but i need my truck back after 2 weeks being down

I wanna say its your tcc lockup. The 6.2 8 speed had that issue that was directly linked to a shudder under lighter throttle shifting.

So your getting a shudder on downshifts or light acceleration or both? If yours is a 4x4, you might chk into a transfer software update recall. It could fix the issue as I've heard guys who've had it performed said shifting was much improved. Have you tried using manual mode to see if it still does it? Good luck!

I bought one for my 2010 Silverado last year because I was having oil consumption issues. When I traded for my 2015 I figured I would just keep using it. The unit has been installed since 50mi and has worked flawlessly since. On my 2010 the V4-V8 shudder was only felt previously when power was required and moving up to V8 under power. With the range AFM disabler, there is none of that. The impact on mpgs I couldn't really provide since I didn't have many miles on the truck before using it. What I'm seeing now in almost all city miles is 13-16 mpgs on my BFG AT KO tires.

What did it do to your mpg's?

Very little difference, cant even tell so far.

How many miles do you have on the truck? Howw many miles since the shudder?

4200, it shudders since i rolled it off the lot

During light acceleration and downshifts together, this truck is up to date on recalls.

Let me rephrase that. If i barely give it gas around 40 mph, it will shudder and THEN downshift

Hmm.. are you watching the V4 to V8 mode by chance? There is a spot when I'm barely on the throttle at about 38-40mph where it's riding in V4 mode. Then all of a sudden it bumps out into V8 mode. Not really a shudder though but it actually feels like a downshift. Also as I asked earlier.. have you tried using manual mode? Put it in M5 and see what happens. This will keep the V4 from kicking in. Just a suggestion and curious to see if anything changes. Or maybe even put it in M4 and light throttle past 40 to see if it does it. If it still does it, then it might be something with the lockup of the TC.

I have the range device, so mine doesnt go into v4 anymore.

Last week I received notice that my truck was built and should be here soon. So, I purchased a Range disabler to hedge my vibration bets. After reading TommyZ71's post, I'm thinking, 'That's does it. Enough is enough. When does this stuff end?" See my post "Sad Vide Day".

I had a 2006 Sierra that I dumped at 125K miles due to very bad piston slap. I guess it doesn't rub off.

I think it's the torque management software on these trucks. When you get the Diablo try the configuration I listed below. The difference was night and day for me (5.3 6spd 4x4). I tried several different configurations and this one is my favorite without having to run premium fuel. I avg 16 mpg in the city and and 20 on the highway.

I didn't get the tuner to hot rod my truck. I just couldn't stand the inconsistent shifting and throttle response. It reminded me of driving an older car that is in need of a carburetor rebuild.

PCM tune

87 octane

DOD/AFM off

10% throttle boost

TCM tune

Stock tune

Torque management off
