Wash/Detail Supplies - What are you using

I've noticed alot of CLEAN trucks on here. What is everyone using when washing/detailing/waxing?

I've always just been a mother's wash concentrate and then some sort of detailing spray in between wax jobs. I'd like to use something a little nicer, but wasn't sure where to look. I've been on Chemical Guys, Adams and few others sites, but overwhelming when I have no idea what to look for. Chemical guys has some items made just for Black trucks so I thought they may be the route to go but figured I'd get some input here first.

Thanks

Check out their "kits". They're designed for exactly what you are describing. Everything to wash and detail your truck can be found in the kits.

For what it's worth, I have NEVER heard a negative review from them.

I've used alot of different stuff over the years. I decided to try chemical guys out recently. Yesterday i used chemical guys honeydew wash in an mtm foam cannon, clayed with CG clay mitt and CG clay luber, covered with CG blacklight then topped that with optimum optiseal spray sealant. This could be topped with a wax depending in the outcome you want to achieve. I think it turned out amazing and the optiseal offers excellent long term protection. So far im really digging thr chemical guys stuff....i especially like the v7 spray sealant/QD. I also have other things from them, waterless wash, interior stuff, spray scents, etc.... Here are a couple pics I posted in another thread. Used the method above.7aba21f6f76c7cc8320f2136383c0e9e.jpg674f85e696d4d646eba0e71c06f4e163.jpg

Great looking truck werked!

Yea guess my question is, with the chemical guys product, what is the process. I've heard great things about the v7 sealant, but just confused. If I just do a basic wash what is everyone using afterwards.

I've been doing a wash and then I use a quick detail spray, but I was hoping to find something like a detail spray that I can use after a quick wash. Would that V7 sealant be something to replace a quick detail spray?

I'm trying to find a product that after a quick wash in the driveway I can use to give a quick detail on times I don't do a full wax/detail job.

I saw your post earlier in a different thread how does that foam stuff work just spray it on and then wait for a bit then rinse it off?

Yes the v7 spray sealant is used a QD or as a last step after a wash....however u want to use it it's good it is very versatile u even use it as a drying aid after wash. Doesn't offer much protection but if you are looking for a good process try this....

Wash

Dry

CG Blacklight or whatever gloss enhancer or cleaner you want.

A good sealant....i use optiseal but hear good things about CG jetseal.

A good nuba wax or just top with the v7.

Just remember most sealants need time to cure before being topped....optiseal for instance needs 10-12 hours or so before topping with a wax.

Anymore questions just ask if I don't know I'll try to help find the answer.

Yes, just foam it up and let it sit a few minutes (but don't let it dry). The foam will start to sheet off... then rinse and wash or rinse and refoam and wash that way.

I'm using CG's gear and I like it. I enjoy the variety of scents too. The V7 is a great product. The only thing I haven't tried is the wax as I had a new bottle of Meguire's NXT 2.0 wax, but wasn't impressed with the effort to get it to come off with the microfibre cloths, so I've ordered some of the Blacklight wax for the Spring detailing (after our cold winter).

I use meguires car wash and a mix of products for other detail work. I do not use a wax on my truck. I use carpro nano sealant that is like a glass type coating. It lasts for over a year with a great shine and I also use carpro reload on all the plastic and paint between coatings. When I apply coating I use meguires m205 and my porter cable random orbital to prep the paint and get rid of the light swirls that occurs from washing and drying.I also use sonax all wheel cleaner and iron x to keep brake dust and iron particles away from the paint but that's not entirely nessasary l use it cause I work on the railroad and it's a constant battle. I use leatherique on the interior leather and 303 protectant on the dash and plastic trim. Rainx on the windows and quarterly applications of seal feed on all the rubber seals ect...
