... radar detector and dashcam...

Those two items don't mix well together.

I guess that you want to install a radar detector because you're going over the speed limit on a regular basis. And that makes a dash cam almost worthless.

Just remember that a dash cam is not only recording the errors of other drivers, but yours as well.

I have the Garmin dash cam 20 installed in my truck just to the right of the rear view mirror. I purchased the long cord and have it tucked into the headliner and down the window pillar. Works very good so far.

I use the Blackvue DR650gw-2ch. Very good quality day and night. Highly recommend it. Costs a little more than some, but cry once, buy once.

Another recommend for the blackvue.

I have it installed front and rear and can review all 3 minute clips from my phone.

It costs a bit - but for hd quality - it's worth it.

The radar detector is for aggressive ticket writers in the small towns I travel through regularly.

The dash cam is for the occasional hit & run perpetrator since I park on the street every night and any road-ragers acting a fool on the freeway.

Thanks for the input everyone, I bought a Blackvue 650 2 channel. I also go the power magic pro and now to figure out which fuse's to tap into.

And?

Radar detector has nothing to do with camera, not like I am going to upload the video of me speeding and send it to the police, radar sector does not show speed of travel on camera so why would it matter?

I am in the same boat wanting to install a dash cam

I am leaning towards the Mobius or the G1W. I dont need any of the fancy stuff

might get both and install one on the wife's car.

And?

And...maybe you didn't get what he meant?

Go and get yourself a good dash cam like the blackvue, makes totally sense! I had one really bad accident on video and could help ICBC and 'the victim', and I know there's more to come for sure.

cheers!

A radar detector can maybe prevent you from getting a ticket for speeding.

But, good luck using your footage as evidence to prove your innocence in case of an accident.

Word of advice for the blackvue owners. If you buy the 2 channel you will have to wire it down the drivers side. ( ask me why I know ) I also have a sliding window and the wiring is just barely long enough for my crew cab.

As well I also have the power pro. Good camara and set up. In the new year I am so going to purchase an addition power cord so I can move the camera from vehicle to vehicle.

Anyone using a dash camera? If so, which one are you using? I'm looking at buying the Kdlinks X1 and was wondering what people are using.

Thanks

Josh

Im using a RoadHawk HD dash cam in my sierra. It records on a regular SD card, you can just remove it plug it in your computer and watch the film. The quality is very good shoots a 180 deg angle. There available online at Amazon or ebay.

People that have used the blackvue 2 channel, do you remember which fuse's you tapped into, when you installed the power magic pro?

Thanks

I have the 2 channel blackvue, and it has about 6 ft of extra cable length after I wired the rear camera to the back window. Maybe they have been including more cable recently. Crew Cab btw.

As for the fuse, just check the manual for a retained power or always on fuse, trial and error if you have to. Just follow the instructions, you'll be fine.
