HID's in 2014 Problem.

And yes, before anyone blasts me with "Use the Search Function"..... with my job and two kids at home I do not have time to sit down and search to find my particular issue....

So I am asking if anyone else has experienced this problem or may know of a solution.

Installed HID's with wiring harness and ballasts about 3 or 4 weeks ago. Maybe 5 or 6. Can't remember exactly. Everything worked perfect....no issues. Started my truck last night to go somewhere and the the headlights didn't come on. Thought maybe I accidentally hit the auto switch off so I toggled it and nothing. Cut the truck off and back on and they came on. Drove to my destination. Started the truck back up to leave to come home and they would not work at all. Could not get them to come on no matter what I did. Had to follow the Wife home with fog lights on just to get truck home.

Fuse in the wiring harness is fine. Just checked it. I have spare ballasts that I will be hooking up and testing later tonight after the kids go to bed to see if it is a problem with one of those. Just wanted to see if anyone had any other ideas that I could check tonight.

had the same thing happen to me with my gsxr at 4am on rt70, f***ing suck check the ballasts seemed to work for me. I get about 6-7 months out a set of ballasts. iv been looking to go led but am reluctant to spend the money on a kit seeing how the hid are working out.

Same thing happened to me, I had developed some corrosion around my ground wire. I took that off, did some sanding and a fresh connection. Everything is good again.

Just curious because over the holiday vacation I will be installing my own hids...

Was your ground on paint before the corrosion or did the corrosion happen on bare metal? Wondering if I should break out the Dremel to be sure the ground area is clear when I install mine.

Had a total of 8 spare ballasts sitting in the closet. Wife's Trailblazer had HID's in high's, lows and fogs (now has only High beams...for other issues). My old 2006 2500HD had them in High's Low's and Fog's. So with combination of all those taken out and what not I had 8 spare ballasts. Tried all 8 of them in different combinations and could not get them to work again. I'm not putting a lot of weight into it NOT being a ballast issue due to the age of all of the spares too. But I had to have my truck to drive at night so I took the entire set up out and put stock head lights back in for now. Will attempt again later when I have time.....Maybe.

On that note. My truck is for sale now. Not because of this..... I am going back to a Diesel. Will post it for sale in appropriate section.
