Looks like the hoods on the 2014/2015 and new 2016 are all the same dimensions. Anyone have a part number for the 2016? I haven't been able to find anything online yet.

After a year of owning my truck I am finally starting to fix the hail damage. One of the items that needs to be replaced is the hood. I was looking at aftermarket hoods last night and noticed that some of the aftermarket hoods that were designed for the 2014/2015 K2XX actually work fit the 2016. Thus I'm starting to think the 2016 would then fit the 2014/2015 trucks. So does anyone have a part number for it? I couldn't find one last night.

I'm pretty sure looking at them in person that the "flat" head light section is longer on the 2016 hood.

I have been looking at aftermarket hoods and recently started to notice that the hoods designed for the 2014/2015 will also fit the 2016. So I would then assume it would work the other way around. I'm going to be calling RK Sport in a moment here to see what they say as well. I just figured if I could order a OEM hood I should be able to get that for less than an aftermarket hood.

Lots of vendors don't really have a clue, they just make assumptions since it wasn't a full makeover. They look slightly different like mentioned above, but who really knows until it is tried I guess.

I am going to name the new hood the "Bird Bath Hood".

They are definitely NOT interchangeable. The raised section above the grill goes up at a different angle and is shorter on the 2016's ...

Yeah, I just compared the two side by side and they do look different. Looks like the part that is flat/straight over the headlights now extends over the grille further. Well back to the original plan of the RK Sport ram air hood. With GlassWorks Unlimited front fenders.

Have fun sanding that glass hood. They are a lot of work to make look right.

My whole truck will be sprayed with line-x so the key will be getting the fitment and lines correct on the hood. After that it'll require the same amount of scuffing/sanding as the metal to get the line-x to stick.

Then why even bother with a hood. Bodywork the dents and slather on the line X. Truck wont be worth a lot after the line x anyway.

The problem with the factory hood is there a few areas that would require too much bondo. For example, on the front passenger side of the hood there is a dent the size of my fist and that area is essentially crush. Then my fenders also have a couple spots on the top/body line where they are dented and stretched. So replacement is just an easier and better route to go. So the current plan is to purchase FiberWerx fenders (GlassWorks wanted $300 for shipping) and probably the RK Sport Hood while its on sale with free shipping. As far as resale value goes the Line-X won't hurt the value of the truck nor will it add anything. I'm sure some dealerships will try to beat me up over the trade in value when that time comes but I also bought a $50k truck for $28k OTD. j
