Hi,

I have an 09 Silverado LT z71 extra can short bed that is a non Bose. I found a like new oem navigation head unit with the conversion harness and need to find out if I can do the upgraded oem nav on a LT without Bose. I've read that a dealer may have to program the vin into the head unit. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I'd hate to have hundreds invested in a paper weight. What else would I need and where would I get the parts and pieces? Thank you for any guidance

Have you looked at the Advent OGM-1 head unit? Depending on how much that factory unit you have located is, it may be worth looking at. It will drop right in where the stock head unit was, requires no adapters, and requires no dealer visit. Not sure on current pricing, contact Walt here from ADC.

^^^ That would be the route I'd be taking. To hell with a trip to the dealer!

The unit I found is 500 Obo it's a denso unit.

On the sticker which is on the unit there's a series of letters and numbers a six digit UYS-UL8.

And then a 8 digit number next to a small GM logo. That number is 22870863. Another below that is another series of numbers

DW468100-7172. The seller also has the wiring harness and it is in great shape. Does any of this information help? Or should I still go with the OGM?

Looking at ADC website I see that the OGM1 has been discontinued. They recommend the CS-GM1210-US unit, that looks like the OGM1 spec wise. It is listed at $795. I have no experience with this head unit, but, if it is anything like the OGM1 head unit, it will do all that you want it to, easily. If you currently have the stock basic radio in your truck now (ie no Bose), this one will simply plug in using existing harness connectors, and will work out of box with your steering wheel controls, handsfree bluetooth(will add bluetooth if you do not already have it as well), and give you turn by turn navigation and a bunch of other things that I do not actually use or have need for myself. This head unit looks just like factory as well. The OGM1 was the head unit that dealers around where I am would put in if you wanted factory nav installed in the off the lot new truck you just bought that did not have it. They would tell the customer it was not the factory head unit as well.

$800 plus taxes and shipping for something you can pop in on your own with zero wiring changes seems to be a bargain to me compared to something you may have to modify your wiring for, then take to dealer and convince them you did not steal the head unit that is installed with a different VIN programmed into it.
