Lifted Silverado - something feels loose on rear passenger side

Hello Everyone,

I finally installed a 7.5 RC lift and running 295/60r20, 20 x 10 -24 offset wheels with 1.5 inch spacers on the back.

I only have about 3000 miles on it 26,000 total miles.

I have noticed something that sounds loose coming from the rear of the truck when I drive over bumps at lower speeds less than 35mph. It almost sounds like the lugs are loose? I checked the lugs on the wheels and spacer and they are tight. When I jack it up and grab the wheel it does have a little play, but I am not sure if this is what the noise is or not. I tried to get under the truck to see if anything felt loose, but nothing seems to be. Is a little play normal in a lifted truck? Could my wheel bearings be going bad?

I'd suspect your wheel spacers.

Maybe retorque your axle u-bolts, leaf spring mounts, and leaf spring shackles.

If it's not the wheel spacers or lugs, it has to either be the ubolts or shocks. Rear is pretty simple. Could also be the rear brake line bracket, I think it drops down if I recall correctly.

My guess is the wheel spacers are not actually fitting properly and have some slack. This could be from the nuts bottoming out without actually tightening the spacer to the hub.

Thanks for the suggestions! So it sounds like nothing should be loose or have any play?

I thought maybe with the wheels and spacers sticking out more than stock could cause this, but it sounds like it should not be doing this.

I am going to call the shop who put it on to see if they will take a look at it.

Also how do you post pics? I tried to put a pic of my truck but it keeps saying the file is to large. Trying to do it from my iPhone.

You have to grind the tips off of the lug nuts with 1.5" spacers. One lug may be sticking out a little too much, it should vibrate and shake bad I would think if that was the case.

Narrow down ur search. Start by removing your rear spacers. That might fix your problem.

I didnt have to grind the tip off my studs because my wheels had pockets in the back for them. Wade might be correct, if ur wheels don't have the pockets and one of the studs is longer than the other, that can be causing ur problem.

Are ur spacers hubcentric? I bought 1.5 BORA Hub/lug centric adapters.Left/black - BORA, Right - eBay

I am not sure if they are hub centric or not?. I thought the place I ordered them from said they were, but I never even looked.

I am taking it to the shop tomorrow morning, so I will let you know what the outcome is. I just hope they fix it. The noise is driving me crazy.

I would avoid driving the truck unless it's absolutely necessary.

Find out if the spacers are hubcentric. If they are not, return them and get hubcentric ones.

I took it to the shop and they said everything was tight and they said the play I am feeling is normal. Something about a c clip in the axles.

He said it is perfectly safe to drive? Still not 100% sure it is normal. On my next oil change at the dealership I am going to have them look as well.

Your wheel should NOT have any play. Tell your shop that they are retarded. Also, no vehicle should ever use wheel spacers.

Wheel spacer when done right are not a problem. Jack the truck up and check the wheels like you would check a wheel bearing. I've never seen a rear end loose by design. Makes no sense

Yeah, I think something is no right. I am running the spacers because the front is wider than the back. I might try to take them off when it gets a little warmer to see if that makes a difference.
