2015 Sierra idle issue 5.3l

Hi, this is my first post here. Let me just say I'm not bashing this truck in anyway. I actually really like. I'm not here to talk bad about the dealership or GM.

At idle in drive I get a slight dip in RPMs. Sometimes the rpms drop so much I can feel the vibration in the seat. No SES light, or drive ability issue. I sometimes think this happens on the freeway too, but it is hard to get that on video.

My question is does anyone else's truck do this?

The dealer told me this is normal. I have noticed this for a week or so now. It wasn't happening when I bought it this vehicle 6 months and 5k miles ago. If it is normal, that is fine. If this isn't a normal then maybe I need to drive out to another Dealership.

Mine often dips below 500 rpm (looks like about 450-500) when in drive as well and hovers just over 500 rpm in neutral or park. I'll feel a slight vibration but nothing of concern.

I think if anything less than 350-400 rpms would be abnormal as I am sure it would feel like it's about to stall.

PS, mine is a 6.2L

Mine has the exact same thing, and the vibrations literally shake the truck. Took it in and got a look from the dealer that made me feel like I'm an idiot. They basically said that it never happened. The computer doesn't show it so it doesn't happen. If it stalls then the computer would register it. It happens weekly, kinda used to it now. 25k on 2014 SLE 5.3L

All manufacturers program their vehicles to attempt to idle as low as possible for fuel economy reasons. Owners of 2015 Honda vehicles have been complaining about the same thing. Honda admitted the problem but that it's normal and it's to save fuel.

You can ask your dealer to adjust the engine mounts to reduce the vibration using this procedure:

Otherwise if you're open to using a tuner or getting a custom tune, the idle RPM can be increased.

It shouldn't be dipping below 500 RPM when fully warmed up.

At 210 Degrees it should idle at 600 in Park/Neutral and 500 in Drive/Reverse. That dip isn't normal.

I was tired of the idle virbrations. So I had my tuner raise idle RPM to 600. Smooth as glass now.

What causes the vibration/rough idle? I was attributing mine to buildup on the valves. I have 33,000 on mine and I just now ordered an Elite.

Probably waited too long, but better than not ever I guess. Rough idle doesn't happen all the time either. It's random.
