High Country Worth More Than A Denali?

So I went to Autotrader and got a quote to sell my truck to a dealer for cash. A week ago they only had Chevy available to price out and not GMC yet, so I put together a 2015 High Country with 6.2 and exact same mileage and options as my truck. It priced out at like $44k or $45k I can't remember exactly.

Today I checked again and they had GMC available, so I priced out my 2015 Denali and it only came to $40,305.

I think think that's kinda weird, not sure why the Chevy would spec out a few thousand more?

Better headlights......

Check the values of both on nada. I have found their pricing to be the most accurate overall.

I honestly think it's easier to get your hands on a Denali these days. So many members have them, that doesn't include owners who aren't members as well. The HC trim is harder to acquire with a 6.2 as well I must say. I think it's only like 23% of them actually got the 6.2, and the Denali's were like 51% for the 6.2

Ha, NADA average trade in is $42k-$45k, and the dealer offered me $38k to trade it on a 2500HD Denali Duramax. The truck is only seven months old so I told them to take a hike.

I got offered 42k for my truck as I was picking it up from service for an oil change. She sales manager walked by and the service guy asked him, he put all my info on his phone. Took about a minute, so I figure I can get more if I try to negotiate. But he did say he has a hard time taking new trucks because they don't sell, not sure if I believe him. Said with all the rebates it is easier to sell new/

I went to a dealer today and they offered 39k, but they already had a couple of 15s on the lot. They claim the market is getting flooded with lease returns, but who knows.

I told both of them who ever offers me the best deal also gets to order me a 16, but didn't seem to matter. 39 and 42 is a kick in the nuts

I tried the autotrader off and gmc wasn't on there also. Now it is and the offer is "pending" It didn't even let me put in all the options. Prolly crap offer anyway

Auto values are regional and are based on sales figures reported by dealers and auctions. What may be worth x amount of $ in CA maybe worth more or less in another region of the country.

NADA means nothing.

Toss out the book when it comes to a dealer appraisal.

It's ALL about how much they can cash up your truck for at auction.

When auction prices are down from lower demand, they aren't going to be offering a premium trade offer.

Denali or HC, means nothing.

I was considering getting a new car. My close friend is a GMC/Cadi/Buick sales mangr. He showed me the GM dealer auction values this week. I can get a 2015 Cadi CTS4 with less than 6,000 miles. Car was a GM exec car. New the car sold for 68K, I have the build which is 3 pages long. Car has every option that could be put on the car. He said if I don't buy it, they will put it in the showroom and ask $43,975, I get first choice at $40,995. Claims after shipping etc they are only making $1000 profit.

I dunno... high 30s/low 40s on a trade in don't seem too horrible to me.

I get you paid a LOT more for the truck but cars ALWAYS depreciate like a rock the first year or two.

I can see the High Country being worth more than a Denali. These days a Denali is more of a name than anything. Denali isn't as exclusive or unique as they use to be. Really the only unique features are the nicer sticthing and digital guages. But every other feature is available on a SLT. Chevrolet is the exact same but the High Country does have a custom interior that is only offered on that model. In the end though your going to take a bath trading in a truck less than a year old. I'd reach out to Laura GMC in Illinois and try to work out a deal with them.
