Arming the Alarm System without keyfob help

Hey guys,

Can anyone who has a 2014 check on how to arm the alarm system using only the key? I have the manual and currently won't have a fob for a few days but I want to arm the alarm system.

The manual states to:

1. Turn Vehicle Off

2.With door open press lock on the interior door

3.After 30 seconds the alarm system will arm and slowly flash

Not difficult right? Well when I press lock on the interior panel the light immediately blinks a few times and then the truck immediately unlocks and nothing happens after that. I've tried it a few times but no go...Any suggestions? Can someone confirm that the above scenario worked using the key only from start to finish...

Also when I get my key fob in is there a way to program or is it dealer only? I know I can go to AC Delco dealer and get it cheaper but not sure if there is a known work around..

With key and RKE (fob) in my pocket and door open I hit the lock button on my driver door. The first time there was an audible alarm bell. Hit door lock button again. Doors locked, light blinked and then went solid when I closed the door. Unlocked with RKE.

I don't want to unlock with the key because the alarm will sound and it's too late for the noise. But you will need to follow the unlock with key and alarm reset process.

You might want to check your power door lock settings (OM pages 5-48, 5-49). I have Unlocked Door Anti-lockout: Off, Auto Door Unlock: All Doors, and Delayed Door Lock: On.

Owners Manual page 2-5 says a replacement RKE transmitter (key fob)can be programmed by the dealer. Replacement keys can be programmed in the vehicle.

Yep, I figured that is the only way to program fobs nowadays but figured I'd ask...

Any chance you ran out to your truck real quick to see if the steps 1,2 and 3 armed your alarm system using the key only and not using the key fob at all?....It would be much appreciated...

You sir, are a genius! haha! Thank you!

I just had to disable the anti-lockout. Then steps 1-3 worked perfectly and my truck alarm system is armed and I can rest easy until I get my key fob in the mail!!

So if anyone loses their key fob and they are stuck with only the key this is the only way to turn on your alarm system!
