2003 Silverado driver door ajar

Hey everyone! Brand new to the forum. I own a 2003 Silverado and recently the driver door ajar signal has come on. Through research on the web, I have come to the conclusion that the door ajar sensor is located in the door latch. Any thoughts that the fix may be different than replacing the door latch. Thanks everyone!

Welcome, I "think" the door jamb switch in the door hinge area (little lever in between the two hinges) and not the latch itself. I've never really dug into that system so I could be wrong.

Yeah, I thought the same thing originally too. Called the dealer and they said it is the latch assembly located inside the door panel. Apparently they integrated the sensor into the latch mechanism in the driver's door that hits the post that's located on extended cab door. Now the fun part of finding a place that actually has it in stock. Not really looking forward to removing the door panel.

Door panel removal is pretty easy on these trucks. If it's anything like my 06 there are no door panel clips to worry about breaking.

Thanks Daryl! That's good to hear. Been watching a bunch of videos online and like you said, it does look fairly easy. I'm just hoping that replacing the latch solves the door ajar issue. I guess there's only one way to find out.
