I just had the exact same issue with my truck this morning.

Did you find out what caused your issue?

Nope, hasnt done it again since. Only thing i can figure is not letting the main screen go through coming on process. I jumped in a crunk it straight up. I know it sounds dumb but only reason i can come up with. Only other prob i had was my truck was running and i took key out of ignition from passenger side and screen wouldnt go off even after i locked doors. Started it up again and turned truck off and screen went off. I guess its just sensitive all i can come up with. Other than that great truck

That's good to hear. Hopefully, my issue goes away on its own too.

Not sure if the starting sequence had anything to do with it though..... it happened to me and I used remote start to start my truck this morning.

Does China or Mexico and associated quality control (or lack of) help?

I have similar problem my left side for favorites some times when you hit it it will not change the station but if you hit it again it will jump two channels I think there is a communication problem between the BCM and the radio but with all the problems I have had I really don't wanna go back to the dealer and listen to there BS

I had a similar issue on my 2014. The volume controls were the only buttons that worked properly. The others either took multiple presses or were delayed. I never used them for that reason. Sorry, but these trucks are garbage.

Just to followup, my problem went away the next time I drove the truck and has not happened again.

It appeared to just be a computer/software glitch that went away with a reboot/restart.

I've had this happen before but was odd was when I went to turn off the truck and restart it, the annoying startup chime didn't play either. I took it to the dealer and they had me shut it off for a few minutes and restart it. Everything started working again and it hasn't happened since.

Just dropped my truck off at dealer. The only steering wheel controls that work are the cruise control buttons. Problem started at odd intervals, one day it would be fine and for no apparent reason would not work the next. Finally, all but cruise control stopped a couple days ago and hasn't come back: Volume, track skip, driver info center etc. They tried disconnecting the battery for 30 minutes to reset the communications and that didn't work. We'll see what happens and I'll post up when I get truck back.

Any update to this? My truck just did the same thing today. No favorites on the left side of the wheel and the volume worked, but didn't show anything on the speedo. Weird.

My '16 does this from time to time on the left side. I thought I read somewhere that the function of the left side can be changed? It works most of the time, but still sorta annoying when it doesn't.

My friend’s 2020 High Country 2500 4x4 Steering wheel controls quit working. No radio controls, menu or interaction with dash? We are on the road as I type. Cruise control and horn are functioning but that’s about it. Is there a fuse or simple fix because not sure when can get it to a dealer to have it looked at.

You can always try the reboot trick, stop the truck, turn off the ignition (push button start?), if not remove key, open drivers door.

Let the truck sit for roughly a minute, close the door, and start the truck, this may clear whatever it was doing.

    • Still looks like a rivet to me in the pics, I don't see a nut and none of the pics show the head of the screw. But if you says so.....
    • Thanks for all the help so far!   I did try right from 2026 right down to 2021, and only from 2023 down lets me select the option for tire psi change, but I get the vehicle not supported error!   I'll definitely try it under Chevrolet after work today, and I'll get the sensor number from gm for my truck tire sensors. And I'll let you know if it works for me under Chevrolet!   And if that doesn't work, I'm going to guess that what @Atlas said about maybe I have a different body control module could be true!
    • From where I'm sitting this sounds like a compatibility problem. I'm assuming the 2007 was a 900-series truck, and not an 800-series (they were sold side-by-side in dealerships that model year), since it starts and runs.   This is why I HATE post-2006 vehicles. Everything becomes a huge problem when you try to keep the thing running for longer than the manufacturer has designed it to.    I can't remember when Global-A architecture started - either '10 or '11. For your sake, you had better hope it's '11, or you're going to be spending some BIG money to correct this cluster-eff. That's something you need to find out before doing anything else. You may have several computers bricked ... but the fact that it runs tells me you MIGHT be ok here.     EDIT: Just did a quick refresher. You're screwed. This is Global-A. The 2 systems are NOT compatible in the slightest. Once you get the correct engine in there that IS compatible, you're going to need to see how many computers are locked. Absolute NIGHTMARE to straighten out, too. Your buddy might be better off cutting his losses and finding something else.   Welcome to post-2006 vehicle electronics. This is why I quit the industry, and drive nothing built after 1994. This stuff takes all the fun out of wrenching!

    • True, hard to say what differences there may or may not be between Chev and GM as well as a production year or mid year part change either.    I just found it odd that under the Sierra choice on the Autel that many of the last few years of production year did not include the choice of changing the tire pressure but if that is an Autel thing or a GM thing as to why the choices were not there. Knowing what tpms sensors are on the truck should give some guidance into which choices on the tool even make sense to try as I wouldn't give up just yet with the tool but I guess he will see what if anything he comes up with if he finds out a bit more info and tries a few more things on the Autel.
