Trailer hitch recall

Hey guys Canadian member here I just had a trailer hitch recall done on my truck 2015 gmc 1500 all terrain apperently welds on the hitch were no good when they took mine off it had been cracked in 2 spots so for anyone who actually tows get yours checked and swapped out!!

Your lucky to get it done. I'm hearing the replacements are in short supply and customers are getting edgy because towing season is around the corner. Another thing that surprises me you have an All Terrain? I thought the recall was Z82 only. All Terrain is Z71 updated AFAIK.

I'm not sure honestly I always like to post when I get a recall done so everyone knows about it. But u was told mine was cracked and im happy I was able to get a new one

OK. So far mine hasn't been recalled. It would likely mean the end of my truck if it wasn't able to get the trailer out to the season opener. She would be pissed.

Best bet call and make sure at the dealer I didn't get a letter just in for oil change and was told I had a recall for it and sure enough minr was cracked in 2 spots

Z82 is the tow package and not suspension.

I used the Chevy app on my phone and entered my VIN. Found out my truck's in the recall. Waiting on the dealer now. I hope I get it before my first planned camping trip.

Mine still doesn't show a recall where was yours cracked at so those of us at home can inspect? I tow frequently spring thru fall.

I don't have a picture just got under the truck and inspect the welds the dealer had just informed me it had 2 cracks I didn't ask to see it tho but he told me it was on the welds

Took the dealer a week to get the part and then and hour to replace for my experience

Tomorrow would be 4 weeks since I contacted my dealer...still no parts...

Z82 is the tow package and not suspension.

If it has a trailer hitch on the back, it has Z82 on the code sticker in the glovebox.

 

Z71 can be installed on a truck that is not a Z82. (GMC)

 

On Chev, Z82 is standard on the trucks that have Z71. (2LT and 2LZ)

 

(and FWIW, the max tow package, NHT, is not available on a Z71 truck; all NHT trucks will also have Z82)

The date the hitch was inspected was Feb. 25, and the dealer called me for appt. to get it replaced on Thursday March 10. Got it replaced following Monday.
