Frank120 Posted March 30, 2016 Posted March 30, 2016 I recently bought a 2016 Silverado custom package. Everything is black and being color matched it doesn't look very good with the factory 20" chrome wheels. I see it's like a hub cap but can't tell if it's removable. Anyone know or have removed these before? Would like to take them off to paint them. I just want to know because I need my truck daily so I can remove them and paint them but still drive my truck if need be. Thanks in advanced.
15slvrDbl Posted March 30, 2016 Posted March 30, 2016 I don't believe they are easily removable they are bonded to the wheel.
Frank120 Posted March 30, 2016 Author Posted March 30, 2016 That's what I thought. Such a stupid design.
O_J_Simpson Posted March 30, 2016 Posted March 30, 2016 They are not removable and look horrible. Just buy a set of nice take off rims of of craigslist. Sell your for what you can get.
TJay74 Posted March 31, 2016 Posted March 31, 2016 That is what they call a Chrome clad wheel, has an aluminum wheel that is then bonded to the chrome appearance portion.
camcamaro1991 Posted March 31, 2016 Posted March 31, 2016 Yes its removable, does require some effort on your part, there are tons of threads especially on other forums about "chrome cladded" wheels, guys clean them up & paint them. Only down side is no OEM center cap will fit. IMO, the GMC 6 spoked looked tons better than the Chevy 5 spoke, but these were mostly on the GMT-900 trucks, not sure what the K2xx wheels look like underneath, at least they are aluminum and not steel, like most cars.
