anyone know what class the hitch is on the 14 SLE?

i also need to find out what the tongue weight is.

im looking at a hitch mounted motorcycle carrier that can hold up to 600 lbs, but the bikes only really weigh about 400 lbs wet.

GM makes a good trailering guide. I downloaded a PDF of the 2014 guide for my truck. I spent a few hours this past weekend reading up on it for some future boat hauling. The hitches are class IV. The tongue weight was a tricky one. They don't really list it clear. It's 10-15% of the trailer weight, with a max tongue weight up to 1,200 #.

ok that hitch should be able to do what i need if i go that route.

im starting to look for a single motorcycle trailer with a wheelbase that will fit in the box of my truck...cant park trailers in our complex otherwise i would have a enclosed one.

whats the shimmed gas pedal mod you did?

edit - just found a thread on it. funny because i remember test driving a 2014 and thinking the pedal felt really lazy and that when i pushed the gas it felt like it has about a 1/2 inch of free play but when i got mine it didnt have that same feeling.

Not to hijack this thread but do you have a link to this? I too have a '14.

2014 Trailer Guide:

I'm looking at picking up a 29' boat with two small block engines. Like a 29' Baja outlaw or Formula SR1. I'm maxing out my 3.42 truck. Wish I had hunted harder for the NHT Max Trailer package with the 3.73's but I can make the 3.42's work. I'm swapping out for the NHT Rear leafs, shocks and the larger NHT Radiator. All other parts I have minus the 3.73's which might come later. I've built many axles, re-gearing is not the end of the world. I'm definitively going to need a triple axle aluminum trailer with E-brakes.

so if i read that right we should be 10-12% of the max tow rate of our trucks..so 800-1200 lbs

^My '14's manual says that too, but the '14 trailer guide doesn't mention that. I will definitely be using a WDH when I get my 27-29' boat.

You haven't provided any details on your truck. There are many different configurations and no one will be able to provide answers without it. What engine do you have, what gearing, etc...

Download this pdf file and it should help you with some answers:
