BCM modify?

the others have not listed anything that can change or modify BCM coding/functions. Even the pickit II may not be able to its just a theory I have, we need to view data, then learn to read data, then possibly modify it. tools like snap on vehicle interface but you must use "GM subscription" and only works with the VIN or VIN available options, there are lots of options esp... in different countries but GM wont let us access them, as its VIN based.

 

Do you know where I can get a hold of these guys that do this work? I would like to see what work they've done and what they can help me out with. Thanks for the input by the way!

I am well educated in vehicle CAN-BUS and BCM understanding, and even they wouldn't tell me how they access the BCM's, they only told me what I told you, they were able to make a Denali cluster work in a SLT Sierra, nothing about how to program it and make it work. They did confirm access to the BCM to do it. I even asked if it was a cash price was available I got shut down myself.

 

 

2nd guy | there is a guy posting youtube videos of GM BCM custom programming. They can program if for you but they will not show you or tell you how.

^ in the video to me it looks like he was able to flash different code in there, as none of us have auto up, unless the caddies do!........hmmmmmm

Awesome, so I guess we have something in common on CAN-BUS and digging around in these sorts of things, but BCM I need to read up on a little.

 

These trucks are setup nicely and love it considering it's a pickup truck. The only thing I'd want to change is this cluster to the Denali so I will start looking around to see what I can dig up and report back here. let me know if you find anything else out, this has me very intrigued now.

You don't need to touch the bcm to facilitate a cluster swap. Anyone who tells you that has no business touching anything lol

I may have misheard him, we had a long winded talk even about older vehicles. By all means please explain the swap procedure for the OP and myself.

 

Personally I would prefer a cable and software and let me modify my own stuff in the BCM, just works better that way like HP Tuners allows on ECU

You probably did hear correctly there is a mountain of misinformation coming out of certain a "shop" that cant even actually program for the swap LOL Not the first time we've heard it :) You'd contact WAMS, get a quote and have a calibration built for your specific vehicle and cluster hardware (user supplied) and then simply swap them.

The hard part is finding one. The hunt begins.

GTPprix is the guy to go to when it comes to GM BCM stuff, I have been watching his work for years on various forums. As said, there is no commercially available way for us to modify the BCM programming at this time. I highly doubt we will get it either, at least anytime soon.

Had my truck in for the first service and asked my neighbor/buddy there (service manager) to turn off the auto door locks. GM won't let him and had him put it on the work order. Wtf? There was an accident over the weekend where first responders couldn't get into a vehicle because the doors wer locked and the occupant couldn't help because she was pinned in by all the airbags.

GM is taking even more access to the system from the dealerships. That's why more accessories are now factory installed.

That's what the window break tool is for. Whats a $100 window when you already have to pay thousands to get it fixed??

 

You could say the same thing about a seat belt. Car went off the road and in the lake. Driver was stuck in there because they couldn't get the seat belt off. You have to outweigh the pros and cons there. They do more good than bad with the safety features.
