BCM modify?

So I've looked around here and didn't see anything that would be equivalent to this cable that I use on my car. I use this tool to plug in and connect to my ECU, then I can change options or coding through the cable on my laptop. I would like to know if there's a cable for our trucks like this and where I can get it to do the same to my truck as I do with my car. It's also used to clear codes and all that too.

Your not really going to find a good CAN bus system reader they are basic fault code readers at best, the GM tech 2 and GM laptop offer the only true solution. I wish someone made a high and low voltage canbus & protocol diag.... reader, that's where the pros/engineers diagnoses level is at.

Ross-Tech is for VW's/Audi's. I have one for my VW and it works great but it will not work on GM's. I don't know of anything except a Tech 2 for GM's. EFILive & HP Tuners would do a lot but also tune which make them a lot more expensive.

I have been a GM guys for decades now and recently picked up an Audi for the wife (2016 Audi SQ5). With that and as said, there is no such thing for the domestics as you have found for the VW/Audi vehicles. HP Tuners and EFIlive only have access to the ECM/TCM for tuning, most of the items you are wanting to change are controlled by the BCM which we don't have access to currently nor I doubt we ever will.

I see I found the self-assuming elitist who thinks he is so much smarter and better.

Oh, and your welcome for all the information given here.

Again, why be a douche bag? Go back and read what I originally wrote, nothing was bad about it. Thanks for the info but the comment after that was ridiculous.

Ok, fair enough, you're right. I want to retract my statements and apologize for being a douchebag.

So, now if you will explain what you meant by:

Figured there would just be silence...

??

I was just being impatient not getting a response, also didn't know if there was such a tool with the silence. It's not common to hear that you can use a tool that I linked and change so much in the ECU. I mainly wanted to know if there was something similar so I could code the truck to play movies while in motion for the passengers. I also wanted to use it to roll all of the windows down and open the sun roof by holding down the unlock button on the FOB and close it by holding the lock. There's a ton of things you can do with this tool and now that you have given me my options, I don't see myself doing any of that any time soon unfortunately. :sigh:

The Mad Veteran, I have spoke to handfuls of guys that have modified the BCM all with different degrees of success, example GMC sierra SLT added a Denali cluster on the K2xx trucks, not easy to do. Most of them keep this information as a safe guard and won't tell you anything as its their business, nor will they do it to your vehicle incase there is a failure, and big requirement here the truck normally has to be there in person to make it all work.

The HMI apple car play swap, is the easiest plug and play add-on for our trucks, but recoding "BCM", for windows, sunroof, etc... its not something some wants to share for free or at all.

I do wish HP Tuners had the ability to recode the BCM, all of us would be using it for sure, but they only focus on powertrain.

You should have made a thread listed BCM modify? not can-bus, I don't think you fully understand the difference.

I have looked online, the only current aftermarket option would maybe to get a PICKIT II programmer and start leaning to code the BCM

I bought the cable and software off eBay for my wife's Highlander. It's funny that higher quality manufacturers aren't locking out these things.

I wonder if it's the same with the cluster as in my car. I swapped mine out for an updated model and all I had to do was go to the dealer for them to unlock the security/locking error it kicked out when I did the swap, after that it worked perfect. I would love to swap for the Denali cluster!!!!!

Yeah I'm not familiar with the BCM yet but I'm sure I'll figure it out and find a way to alter what I want as I did on my car. This is my first pickup so it'll be a learning process for a bit until I get it all down as you would imagine.

I will check out the PICKIT II and the other programmers suggested, thanks everyone for the noob questions.

I also changed the header to "BCM modify?"

the others have not listed anything that can change or modify BCM coding/functions. Even the pickit II may not be able to its just a theory I have, we need to view data, then learn to read data, then possibly modify it. tools like snap on vehicle interface but you must use "GM subscription" and only works with the VIN or VIN available options, there are lots of options esp... in different countries but GM wont let us access them, as its VIN based.
