Best looking running boards for a 2016 deep ocean blue

When I ordered my truck I ordered it with the 6" Chrome rectangular factory boards/steps. ($700) I decided 2 days later that I wanted to go a different route after driving my dad's 2015 High Country with AMP Power Steps. I had them delete them off of the order before it was too late.

I decided AMP Power Steps. (for about $300 more than the factory one and the same base warranty as the truck, no brainer for me)

They hide away so you don't really have to decide on Black or Chrome. They do have a chrome insert if you want chrome.

I live in AZ so no discussions about weather conditions. :P That horse has be beat :banghead::smash: to death in other threads already.

I put Amps on mine this week! I liked the GM boards but having been a previous Amp owner and the wife's Tahoe having factory deployable boards, u had to get some!

I had the 6" chrome OEM boards and was totally happy with them. That is until I lifted my truck, then I put the AMP steps on to get an extra 5.5" of drop from the door sill. I must say, I really love these steps. Much more so than the chrome 6" need bar steps I had. I was concerned about dropping the money on them at first; however, in the end I think they're totally worth it!! They drop a bit too low on stock trucks for my liking; however, if you're going to do a level or lift, they sit great.

I love my Amps! My wife and her high heels were killing my door sills trying to catch the 6 inch bars, plus with the Amps being lower you don't dragass the seat. I think they work well on any truck that's not been lowered.

Iron Cross Patriots.

Do you have some more pics at different angles of the boards? Those moved to the top of my list. I just want a basic thinner board that tucks up close to the body. Honestly the factory F150 running board is what I am after and these are similar. Would appreciate some more pics. Hard to find good pics of certain boards on a particular model if they aren't the popular models like RB10's or AMPS that everyone has. I am also looking at the Endeavors or Dee Zee NXT.

Nice looking set up, that blue would be my first choice.

All depends on where you are using your pickup primarily. The typical tube stuff and the retractable style Amp Research stuff is fine for many folks where their pickup stays on hard surface roads all the time. Every time my pickups get driven, they have to deal with several miles of gravel roads each way. For that kind of thing, real running boards offer great side body and rocker protection. I have been very partial to the Raptor stainless steel running boards for that reason. And they typically offer better footing for children or older folks than the stylish stuff.

Here is my 2015 2500 with them on.

    • Yep! This should be a pin somewhere as @pgamboa really dives into all of this. Thanks for reposting the link!
    • I did the new thermostat after doing a 'flip' for a year. Runs as cool one way as the other in the summer but in the winter there is a bit of a floor. Yellow with the new 70 C thermostat. My data over the life of the unit to date. Still need more cooler. Anyway that floor helped both winter fuel economy and shift quality in the winter. I found it a good balance.
    • Evan Williams Bottled in Bond   So pouring the last of a bottle of Evan Williams Black label last night I set off the the state store for a refill only to be denied the by an empty shelf. Rats.    What the did have was a bottle of Evan Williams Bottled in Bond. 100 proof. Hum, a few bucks more but a known distiller. Lets have a swing at it. ( I have before )    Cracked it open and pour a serving over ice. Hum.... more heat, yes. More alcohol naturally. But the barreling not the proof brings the taste and this one came up short.    Oh is was familiar but the heat ran the barrel over like a Peterbilt runs over a squirrel. Could use a heavier toasting of the oak me thinks or perhaps a longer barreling. Who knows. But what I can say is ice or a water back isn't the answer. What kills one kills them both. Sad. It is a pleasant drink....if you have little to compare it to.
    • I've had exactly one set of Bridgestone. Lasted five year and 125,000 miles and had I known better 15oK would have been a cake walk. I would have bought a like set had they not tripled in price since the first set. I removed them at said mileage with 5/32" remaining in dead even wear all four. They were fuel efficient, quite, comfortable and predictable.    Early on I got a very good alignment checked at least once a year, sometimes twice; kept the tires properly inflated, balanced and rotated. And I've found that many a tire issue can be avoided with great maintenance practices. Lot's of tire dealers will do rotation and balance (simple) for free for as long as you own the tire they sold you so no excuse not to.    Bead prep, alloy integrity and stem health have a huge impact on inflation stability. There are more mountings done poorly that perfectly. Finding a good tire guy is gold and as important as finding a tire you like.    That 3X price increase now two sets of "other tires' later is starting look like a bargain.      Bad maintenance kills more tires than bad tires.
    • Atlas, you kill me As aggravating as a project like this can be you have been unable to hide your fascination with learning and using that angst against this beast like a Ninjitsu Master. It amuses you, admit it now.      BTW, love your writing style. 😉
