towing with 09 1/2 ton

I have a 2009 k1500 ext cab 4x4 5.3 with 3.73 gears with 100000 miles on it, never been used to pull much, I am wanting to pull a rv that has a uvw of 4600lbs I was told that I should not pull with this truck because it has not been used for this, is there anything to this or not? Thanks

There is absolutely nothing to that. Truck was made to tow, haul, and be a utility vehicle overall. Thats like me saying bc I tow 3-6k almost daily since new, that my truck can't be used to just cruise and be a passenger vehicle. See what I'm saying?

You're good. If anything, your truck is probably stronger than most since it's never worked very hard. Do all the 100,000 maintenance, trailering will get the juices hot and you'll want them to be fresh.

A truck is a truck. Its a half ton, the original working mans truck. I wouldn't have a second thought to towing it.

Unless your gonna be rolling close to 9k pounds or more hook er up and let er rip ?? ?

Your truck should have no issue with that weight. I think you still have the 4 spd in that year so just remember that when pulling. Also, what ShawnR said is good advice. Get the 100k maintenance done and get fresh juices in all around. You'll do good by that.

4600 unladen is probably 6000 or so with all your gear. No problem what so ever for your rig if properly maintained.
