Auto ride (Z55) suspension. Options for replacement shocks??

For our 2008 Tahoe LTZ with 113K miles. We haven't had any problems with ours other than the shocks are wore out. Bouncy / mushy ride. From what I've read, If I want to retain the OEM function, I have to buy shocks from GM and they are extremely pricey.

I see one place sells an aftermarket conversion that includes just a regular shock and a plug to fool the computer so it won't throw a code (fronts) and the rear replacements function the same (air shock) but I believe the rears also come with a plug to fool the computer.

What have you guys done ?

Not on a truck but on a 2000 park Avenue I did the same.

I replaced the factory air ride with conversion shocks and disabled the associated air ride hardware. It worked great but, it was a 300,000 mile, fairly worthless car.

Your Tahoe is pretty young still...
