Not sure what's going on, I have a 2014 ltz, when I going slow, like turning or in drive through for example. My steering starts jerking and console says service stabilitrack or parking assist off. Seems really dangerous because if it does it while I'm driving I'm hitting the ditch lol. It's completely random and can't get it to malfunction. Only things done to truck are RTS hids and 2" leveling kit that were put on about 4 month ago. Problem just started. Any ideas or advice is appreciated thanks guys!

Good morning CaseysLTZ,

I am sorry to hear that you are experiencing these steering concerns, and understand how frustrating these intermittent situations can be. I recognize that at this time you are reaching out to other forum members for advice. However, I would be more than happy to offer additional assistance if you decide to work with a dealership. Please private message me with more details if this is something that interests you.

All the best,

Julianne M.

Yes I will be bringing it into th dealership... But honestly wanted the opinion of others because I'm sure this has happened to someone already before. Plus it seems to always be the same with dealership, "they couldn't find the problem" lol

Mine gave me the service stabilitrack warning and disabled it on me when i was using it and needed it. This was a few weeks ago. The truck is 5 months old and had at the time about 8500 miles. I was descending down a very steep and loose gravel narrow road with a 400ft sheer cliff on the side with no shoulder. I used the downhill descent for the first time to attempt to hold the truck at about 3 mph. This was working well for about 30 seconds so i comfortably left my foot off from hovering the brake. While turning a hairpin curve at this steep grade the truck gave way and the downhill descent gave out and the warning came on the dash. Thankfully i reacted in time to avoid death. When the ground leveled off, I turned off the truck and turned it back on again and the message/dash light disappeared. I haven't used the downhill descent control since (for fear). I haven't mentioned it to the dealer but i'm sure they would brush it off since there is no active dash warning.

I know this isn't the exact same scenario you mentioned, but thought it was worth mentioning since the error is the same.

This is normal at very slow speeds. You will most likely notice this happening at the same places. What is happening is the truck senses that the front wheels are pushing or "scrubbing" a little when turning at a sharp angle and then the "electric nannies" do their thing.

Seriously? What would be an appropriate use of the descent control? Going down a paved mountain road? If so, i drop it in 2nd or 3rd gear depending the speed I'm looking to maintain.

There is no possible way tha this is normal... The wheel jerks so hard left to right it would break my wrists... Any idea what would cause this?

My truck is currently and has been at the Dealership for the same thing for over 2 weeks now. They have tried the TSB PIT5405A with no success. Luckily in my case the tech was able to duplicate it (for the first time in the history of the world) and it scared the poo out of him according to the Service manager. They have tried new battery cables and a new fuse box and had some longer test drives scheduled for yesterday as that is when this typically occurs. I STRONGLY SUGGEST FILING A COMPLAINT ON SAFECAR.GOV as you have mentioned this is a very serious electrical issue. The service manager explained that the truck loses voltage which when it does that the truck forces the steering wheel back to "zero" to reset its self and thats what causes the wheel to violently jerk out of your hand. There are many complaints on this and GM is having trouble because it is "intermittent". But like yourself have noticed and explained that it does it after longer highway drives (approx 20 miles all highway) with the AC going. I am waiting until about lunch time today for an update on how the "longer" test drives went since they replaced cables and fuse box.

Please keep me updated and I have been in contact with NHTSA & GM's Executive office..which is useless since they are basically a middle man between myself and the district manager here in PA, who took almost 2 weeks to get back to him. I feel GM is dragging their feet on this issue and may cause someone to die because of it.

Okay guys update on my problem. Was on the INTERSTATE today to see a movie out of town, had the ac blowing, radio on, wife rolls down window, then rolls it back up. As she rolls the up, I head a ding ding ding, looked at panel, says parking assist off, and radio volume stops working. Get off interstate, on the exit ramp, stabilitrac starts flashing on dash. So I pull off into the parking lot of the theatre, and as I'm pulling in, the steering wheel starts, once again violently jerking left to right ac turns off stabilitrac flashing, AND THE TRUCK DIES IN MIDDLE OF ROAD/PARKING LOT!!!! Texted my salesman going to try to bring truck in tomorrow morning. Somethings deff wrong!

I have had no issues with my recently purchased 2014 Silverado until just now. Twice in last couple days the parking assist has popped on screen with the steering wheel jerking. Just happened when trying to park at rest stop and truck turned off in process. Scary stuff. Definely will get truck into shop when I get back home.

Hey man, I'll save you the trouble... my truck went in different shops more than 4 times for the same problem and they couldn't fix it. (Same problem your having) I traded that son of a bitch in while I could and got a 2016 Canyon. DONE DEAL
