Made in usa Posted June 27, 2016 Posted June 27, 2016 I own a 2013 1/2 tion silverrado. my parents and family friend also have the same model and year truck. The frames are pealing and rusting fast. I also own a 2010 silverrado that frame is in much better shape than any of the 2013s. These trucks are not even 3 yrs old. 2 of them picked up July 2013. Please chevy help. Life long chevy truck owners
newdude Posted June 27, 2016 Posted June 27, 2016 If you are within your 3yr/36k warranty a local Chevy dealer can help.
SilverP Posted June 30, 2016 Posted June 30, 2016 Im having my 2013 frame stripped and re- coated courtesy of GM. I took mine to the body shop.. They took pictures and scheduled me in. I am over the 36k but it did not seem to be an issue.
Made in usa Posted July 1, 2016 Author Posted July 1, 2016 Silverp do you know what the are going to put on your frame? They are supposed to fix ours as well but they are not doing it in the body shop they are doing it in the service department. I did not have a good experience at all with the service manager. Then on the return call to make the appointment he was very helpful. Even told me the 2013 of mark w. Was done after the first winter and was doing fine. That was after the day before when they tought I was being an ass cause our frame was rusting. I would not care so much but I bought the truck brand new for my daughter that was 16 at the time. Hoping the truck would last her a long time. Bought the truck for the safety of a full suze truck after being about whipped out 2x in one day teaching her how to drive. Neither one of the close calls wee her fault. Looked at fords Wednesday evening. I have never bought anything but gm. Since I was 16 I am jumping ship next time I buy a truck.i wish I would have recorded the visit when I wss there.
SilverP Posted July 2, 2016 Posted July 2, 2016 Im not exactly sure what product will be used, i can tell you it will not be the factory wax coating... That is what my body shop manager told me. Im not sure if it is different from dealer to dealer.. All i know is they will be removing the bed and completely stripping what they can. My first truck was a toyota tacoma and i had the whole frame replaced due to rust perforation. I dont see GM replacing a frame any time soon but rust is an issue.
Z45 Posted July 2, 2016 Posted July 2, 2016 Once metal starts to rust its next to impossible to stop it. Sure you can sand blast it, paint it and it will look good but the rust is still working and in a few years it will just as bad if not worse.
Made in usa Posted July 3, 2016 Author Posted July 3, 2016 What dealer is doing your truck sounds like they are going to do a pretty good job ?

Made in usa Posted July 5, 2016 Author Posted July 5, 2016 Elcamino I know trying to make the best out of a bad situation
paul2011z71 Posted July 5, 2016 Posted July 5, 2016 Living in the "salt belt" doesn't help. I try to wash my truck at least once a week when there is salt on the ground. My frame is peeling the black plastic stuff but the metal itself isn't rusted. When you can hand wash behind the fenders and bumper, also wipe the door jambs.
