Airaid MIT

After tossing the idea around, I purchased and installed the MIT tube on my 2016 5.3 Smooth install, but not so much on the test drive. Definite loss of acceleration and downshifts anytime i barely touch the gas pedal to accelerate. Really disappointed and unsafe to drive if I needed to accelerate quick, so I put the stock setup back on and everything is normal. Anyone experience similar situation or have insight?

In my experience with the Airraid MIT, disconnect your battery to reset the computer. It will adjust the air to fuel ratios accordingly once you put it back on and drive it again. Hope it helps.

It took mine about 2 days before it started acting right again after my install. I disconnected the battery at the time of install.

I did disconnect battery prior to install (forgot to mention in OP). My temperature is also reading 37*, but read that is normal when disconnecting battery and hopefully should reset.

I installed one yesterday on my truck, 2015 5.3. I noticed the temperature gauge was off, but after a few minutes of driving around, it was back to normal. So far mine seems like it accelerates better in the 20-30 mph range. I'll see if it gets better after a few days. I also installed the air raid dry filter.

Just an idea - the airflow sensor is one directional, you have to have the hole in it pointing towards the filter... I would check that as well if you have already disconnected the negative terminal of the battery.

My mpg dropped to 15 after I installed mine. I disconnected my battery and let it sit for 10 mins. Back to 18. After my exhaust im at 19.3 mpg.

Which exhaust did you get?

I forgot to disconnect the battery when I did mine, but it was an obvious improvement in sound and slight improvement in throttle response regardless. No regrets.

Yes, I put it back on and removed battery cables like the first time. This time it ran great. I've been running it ever since.
