Got into an accident Opinions/knowledge needed.

Hey man, I'm blinder than Hellen Keller apparently. Also that slightly cloudy sky is rain covered and I didn't know it.

I'm entitled to comment....forty nine (49) years driving and the only accident the first year, being rear ended in '67. Same goes for no moving (zero) violations ever and that says something for 20 years of driving a Camaro 302, Chevelle 396 and Impala 454 around NYC.

The reason the camera is mounted on the dash is it sees from the driver's point of view and right or wrong in my opinion there was plenty of time to anticipate, hit the brake and avoid that one.

I'll admit I was wrong......Helen Keller probably would have missed that one too.......and the streets and sidewalk must have been painted with shiny paint to reflect the lights. You asked for an opinion and you got it, take it for what it is worth.

Unable to read the sign. A lot of places do not allow uturn in a busy intersection like that for this very reason. I always prefer to take the extra 3-5 mins and go around the block personally.

I am sure VW thought you were turning not turning around. IMO this will be 50/50 without further info, that means you total up all damages to both vehicles and split it 50/50 not you fix yours and I will fix mine. Probably best to wait for insurance to work it out.

The sign is a double left turn plus u turn sign. The light is a green yellow and red arrow. I've never had the no u turn in a busy intersection thing before. Over here if the arrow is green you're good to do what you need to provided its allowed

This is what the sign/streelights look like from the side I was on before turning.post-150258-0-19168700-1470011664_thumb.jpg

Yup sign clearly says you can go one of 3 ways(ok 2 from your lane). You should be ok. They will probably have to pay up. Keep that picture make sure your adjuster gets it.

That ones off of Google maps but it should work

I've seen judges look up google street view in traffic court. Should be fine but cant hurt to take one too if close by because the other person will always try and say it was not there or changed etc.

I bought this one.

https://www.amazon.com/AUTO-VOX-Dashboard-Capacitor-Internal-Recording/dp/B00UUQD9L6/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1469957323&sr=8-1&keywords=vox+dash+cam

B40C with the capacitance as I was a little worried about vegas heat baking it to death. I'm actually thinking of investing in a better one that can record both front and back. It comes with a very long cigarette plug wire that I routed into the headliner, down the A pillar (i think that's the right name), down the side of the drivers fuse box and under my floormat.

One thing I found out is that it actually drained my battery after a day or two as I didn't realize the center console's ports are permanently hot unless you swap a fuse.

It's a green arrow. The sign next to it is a double turn lane + uturn sign. http://i.imgur.com/4PnWJnw.pngLooks like that. My parents own a office about a block or two from there and I know it's a allowable uturn. (this street going west/east) The north/south one has a no uturn though.

That's the one I have, I've been happy with the quality when I would review video. I've been lucky and haven't had to use it for an accident yet. They sell a usb cable adapter to directly wire it into a switched port. I ran the cable into the fuse block on the driver's side for switched power. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00L3XXRI0/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Which fuse did you use? Also how did you hide the power converter block?

I put the power converter block in the A pillar, ran the cord across the top of the headliner and dropped it down behind the rear view mirror. Don't remember the fuse #, but used a fuse tap and just grabbed one that was switched. Makes the whole setup kind of idiot proof as I don't have to remember to switch it on/off. Get's pretty hot in Oklahoma so I too wanted the capacitor only unit.

With a whole lot of patrol hours under my belt, here is the knowledge piece of your question. A green arrow is the same as a green light, that bug didn't yield the right of way. Look at the distance the bug is from her crosswalk as your arrow is green. She was obviously distracted or the light on her side was inop.

As long as the VW ran a red light, she is clearly at fault, especially with the clear picture of that sign.

However, its also one of those "look both ways before you cross a one-way street" scenario.
You have to expect the unexpected because you know what you are doing but not one anyone else is doing so you always
have to be prepared for everyone else.
In my opinion, its easily visible that that chick was haulin' butt and you wouldn't have been able to complete that turn.
Yea, she woulda gotten off scott-free for running a redlight and you woulda been annoyed with her, but your truck would be ok.

I'm sure that if I looked back again I would've caught the bug speeding right on by. However, my first look I thought she was slowing down . Obviously I was wrong and as I was looking through my turn so I don't squish any pedestrians then I didn't see her. I was taught to look through the turn after it looks clear as you don't know what is going to be in front of you. (suprise pedestrians out of nowhere)

You seem to be justifying why she was not at fault. If you talk to the insurance adjusters like this post, they may start believing you were at fault. You're saying "obviously you were wrong"?? Ok
