2015 6.2L Magnaflow Exhaust Question - 14", 18", 12909 or 1225

So I have been reading & listening to sound clips for 2 days... not to beat a dead horse but I need some info on different Magnaflow mufflers. 14", 18", 12259 & 12909 on a 2015 6.2L 4x4

 

The shop I am going to do does lots of muffler work on sport truck & cars, not as many on lifted trucks. He is pushing the 14" Magnaflow, but I can't find much info on it. I have heard a lot of the cars & trucks he's done & I think the 14" Magnaflow may be a little louder than I want.

 

So I want a low rumble, not a race car sound & NO Clapping! I plan to dump it behind the rear axle, so all new piping from the muffler back and delete everything back there. Not worried about the V4 chopper, AFM is tuned off. So no drone, loud during acceleration, & quiet while cruising.

 

Anyone with experience or thoughts on the 14", 18", 12259 or 12909?

 

Lastly, should I put a tip on it? 4" or 5".

I would have the shop install the 12909 in place of your stock muffler and "flapper" valve. Leave the resonator and add a tip if you like to stock tailpipe. Have gone this route with both 6.2's and pleased with the sound. Little to no drone while cruising and a nice deep growl when nailing it. Inlet and outlet is 3.5 inches and if the shop measures it precisely there is no need to add additional pipe.

I've got a '15 5.3. I wanted the same result. I opted to go with the 18" magnaflow muffler w/ turn down only. I completely cut out the stock exhaust from the muffler back. I am pleased with the sound. Occasionally I wish it sounded a bit louder. Only thing left I wanna do is instal 3" mid pipe from third cat to muffler.

LGetz, I want to eliminate the tailpipe from view, which is why I am going to dump it behind the rear axle.

 

NamanC6, thanks... I fear the 14" may be too loud for what I want. I her lots of people who like the 12909, but I haven't heard very many clips.... so I just don't know which one to get

 

My fear is which ever I choose, I will want it either louder of not so loud an wind up spending extra $ to change it,.....

You should be fine than with just the 12909. Will be significantly louder than mine with resonator and tailpipe intact. With V4 mode eliminated you will have no worries about the "chopper" sound.

I have a 12909 on a 6.0l...I like it.

I have used the 12909 on my 2014 with no flapper and no resonator and it sounded great, so much I put the exact same setup on my 2016 truck.

I have the 14" magnaflow on mine now, had the 22" and it was way too quiet. I also removed the everything after the muffler. The truck has a lower note and is very quiet on the hwy. Sounds awesome when you punch it as well. Inside the cab, it's very tame.
