Grill change on 2016 LT's?

Does anyone have a clue why they changed the grill from chrome to black? I've seen many older (14,15) LT's around and they all have chrome grills. Did they do it to be cheap? I can't stand the black, going to paint mine soon.

honestly, I wanted to swap out my grille for the LTZ grille..but the black is growing on me as time passes on. One little change that made it more bearable was simply plasti-dipping the emblem to black. The contrast of the gold against the black grille just looked weird. Still may swap to LTZ grille in the future, but for now I'm ok with the black. Not sure of the reasoning for losing the chrome mesh though.
