Installing an 8l90e behind an LY6

hi All

Transmission has some issues, and I started pondering replace vs rebuild... Then I started wondering if the 8l90e would fit in the event of a replacement.

Supposedly the physical fit is the same, wondering about the computer, what programming is involved/etc.

In my case, I'd be stuffing it behind a 2011 LY6 motor.

Wondering if anyone has done this - installed an 8l90e in place of a 6l90e in a GMT900 platform vehicle?

Thanks in advance!

Why go to the 8L90e? I have one in my 16 Sierra and hate it.

Not worth the wiring hassle IMO. Go for a GM SRTA reman 6L90. 8L90 runs on newer electrical architecture than GMT-900 period. You get a 3yr/100k parts and labor warranty, and if you have any issues during the warranty period, any GM dealer can fix it as long as you have the purchase receipt and warranty card that come with it.
