Glitches created by using Factory Remote Start

I have had an annoying problem. My truck will Sporadically shut off and then turn back on while the power locks rapidly lock an unlock and the anti-lock break dummy light comes on and stays on. This last until I shut the truck off and let it sit for a few hours. I brought it to the shop and they couldn't find anything wrong with it but I have come to the conclusion that the glitch is directly related to my remote start because it has never happened unless I use remote start before driving. However sometimes when I use remote start it runs just fine. I have suspicions that it is some sort of a anti theft glitch. Has anyone else had this issue and if so any advice, other than don't use remote start ever again?

So I was driving the truck this weekend and the problem came back. I did not use the remote start before hand though. The truck started losing and gaining power to all systems, just like the power was being connected and disconnected very quickly. The Battery and Positive and Negative Cables are clean and in perfect condition. I just took them off a few weeks ago and cleaned them up just to eliminate that possibility. I did notice a small plug located on one of the Battery Cables today. I am wondering if it is a battery disconnect for a factory anti-theft system.

Please follow this link to see the small plug.

Has anyone else had anything like this happen to them?

I'd probably be inclined to check my grounds and make sure they're all ok and making good contact. Barring that, I'd probably head to the dealer and ask them to maybe reflash the computer. Maybe something has gotten haywire and needs to be reprogrammed. That's about all I could think of.

Well now that sounds just too friggin familiar. Most likely you have a bad diode in your alternator, the voltage spike from the bad diode causes the computer to shutdown and restart which creates havoc throughout the electrical system. I at first had Advanced Auto parts test the alternator and their tester did not show the bad diode so I messed around for months sanding grounds etc until in total frustration I had the alternator tested at AutoZone. the AutoZone tester picked up the bad diode. Not real sure if it was a difference in the test equipment itself or the store operator skill level? Anyway I would stop in and have it tested at a few stores (it is free around here) and not just depend upon 1 alternator test but I would bet donuts to dollars that is your problem.
