I have had 2 verbal arguments with PORTSMOUTH NH 03801, dealership regarding the up-shift if my truck transmission. Simply put, I was decelerating in a parking garage. I took my foot off accelerator to slow just before I drove onto a down ramp as I exited my work space.THE TRANSMISSION UP-SHIFTED AND ACCELERATED ME TOWARD ANOTHER VEHICLE. A panic stop saved an accident. Below is the last contact with Chevrolet.

Good morning Dan. Thank you for the call.

1st. I am a civilian working for the US Navy near Portsmouth Chevrolet,
Portsmouth NH 03801. I am @ work by 0600 hours. I am released from work
@ 1530 hours. It takes 1/2 hour to exit my work place and 1/2 hour to
arrive home. How will we overcome this situation. Obviously, I cannot
converse with you during those hours. May I suggest that we agree on a
specific day and you could "stay over" to discuss these unsafe issues.

Last night I spent another hour with a technician and service rep
discussing all the problems with this truck @ Portsmouth Chervolet. Ask
them for a copy of my paperwork. I brought up 3 points and added an
issue to make 4.

The noise from the engine in terrible. The ticking is heard over my
radio when my windows are down. Answer: Normal!
The transmision jerks me around specifically around 30 mph, but it
occurs at all speeds below about 40mph. Answer: Normal, the computer
does not respond correctly to the driver.
The transmisson slips after being placed in park. In my case I had
pulled the key, opened the door and I was stepping out of the truck and
it moved 6-8 inches. I was not harmed this time. Answer: Normal, we
have a bulletin about that.
The main fear is the transmission shifting up when i have taken my foot
off the accelerater. It has happened twice now. The first time I was
behind a vehicle and the truck surged forward. I had to panic stop the
truck from striking the vehicle in front.
The fourth issue I added while @ the Dealer is the clunk under my truck
when it shifts. A clunk which us similar to "rearend gear lash". Funny
that the clunk was felt this morning coming to work.

Dan I fear this transmission will push me forward into another vehicle.
I do not feel safe in this truck. Please advise. David Moulton, 2015

I have experienced all except the movement in park. All I ever got from the dealer was either "Normal" or "Cannot duplicate customer concern". I pushed as hard as I could through GM's Priority Care and got nowhere. Cannot get anyone to diagnose it and GM will not do anything because the dealer says there is nothing wrong. This truck is the worst vehicle I have ever driven and GM will not do anything about it. They no longer care about customers and are only out to make shareholders happy The problem is in the "learning" software of the transmission. It seems that some systems have problems with maybe a tolerance problem and end up shifting goofy at times, the 30mph problem is the 5th to 4th downshift. All they would have to do is add some parameters to the radio so you can turn off dynamic braking and turn down torque management and it would be fine. Since they are unwilling to work on these anymore, all I can do is learn from my mistake and no more new GM vehicles. Maybe in the future they will figure out how to make automatic transmissions again, but for now stay away. Sounds like Ford was leading the 10 speed transmission, but GM's programmers will find a way to screw it up.

Problems such as you are describing is one reason why I will not buy another GM new vehicle equipped with automatic transmission until they eliminate these issues. I have zero problems with my GM car and truck, both equipped with an old proven 4 speed GM automatic.

    • Just did an injector/HPFP replacement on Pepper at 192,400 miles; close enough to 200K, RIGHT? (If 200K is considered life end and to me it isn't). But hey, to each his own.    Have never run a catch can on this vehicle. Back side of every valve looked like a new valve spray painted semigloss black. Port walls looked 'neat' (all a normal result of passive EGR via VVT) Zero build up even in AFM cylinders. Just color. It uses no measurable oil and never has.    At 155,000 I put her on E-85 and a borescope of the cylinders at plug change showed very clean pistons and valve faces. The replaced injector tips looked new. (It was the pump piston seal that was leaking). Oh well, have six good backups.    Still gets 28 mpg on gas (highway average) and over 20 (highway) on alky. UOA's look good and runs as good now as it did when I bought it. Better in fact.    What improvement would a Catch Can provide this motor?     And given all this I expect that IF I installed one I'd see some water/gas/oil vapor accumulation. Byproducts of normal combustion.   Having said that, IF my motor used an appreciable amount of oil I'd consider it a useful 'crutch' until I had the situation corrected OR if bore polished, until I junked it or rebuilt it to stave off repeated plug fouling.    I'm not telling you what I THINK. But what its DONE.
    • Love the look. I'm a SCSB lover myself.    Two items. 1.) A spacer changes scrub radius but this also changes when we use wheels of different offsets. A little isn't a big deal. 2.) Steel wheels, alloy wheels all have different thickness. Same effect on the stud and lug nut as a spacer. When hub centric the wheel isn't supported by the stud. It's supported by the hub. The stud just keeps it all together.
    • I had a evap sol go bad a couple weeks ago. . I replaced it.  While watching live data at the time I saw I had some cylinder 1 misfires. No MIL but on live data I could see ~50 at startup and about 70 more after an hour a drive all on cyl 1.  I also noticed that the LTFT were -5% to -15% always.  And that bank 2 is always -3% richer than bank 1. Even across all driving modes, city, highway, etc it’s always 3% richer than bank 1. So I start with the misfire. Swapped coil, plug, and plug wires from 1 to 3. No follow. I got an Injector reseal kit, pulled the D/s injector rail, swapped #1 and #3 injectors, resealed them, reinstalled and retested.  The misfire followed to 3. So I ordered and replaced all 8 injectors, spark plugs, and plug wires. Also replaced the 1 time use fuel pipes under the intake manifold.  Injectors that were in the truck since new were  Part # 12668390.  I replaced them with # 12742701 Got from RockAuto. Pretty certain they’re genuine and the correct ones. I called a friend at a parts store who told me “the 12742701 were the correct superseded part # for the originals I was replacing”. So started truck after replacing all that and it’s running -15 - -30 LTFTs. I reset the fuel trims with GDS2 and drove it for a 60 miles trip each way. There have been no changes in the LTFTs.  I checked if the HPFP was leaking into the crankcase. I removed the pvc and watched the trims. No difference.  I checked the alcohol content and it was at 10%  I’m out of ideas here. Truck seems to run great. Just always rich on the fuel trims.  Anyone with any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated.  I ran an injector balance test just for the heck of it and it came back this. I’m confused.  I have gds2 and some other diag tools if anyone knows of anything I should test next.
