2014 5.3 squeal and black smoke when remote started

Crazy this just happens to me and it was the A/c locked up . Driving down the road my truck lost power and a bunch of smoke . Pulled over and I have no A/C belt and black rubber everywhereZ

Sounds like it was just a really cold start IMO.

 

5 Days is a bit for it to sit, even your OnStar will auto expire if the vehicle is not started in 5 days. I would drive it a bit then start it and see if repeatable. If it is not repeatable it may be a waste of time taking it in because I am 90% sure that is all the shop will do unless they can repeat it.

 

My Truck often sits for a week or 2 at a time but I make sure to turn it over every couple days and have not experienced any black smoke of note.

5 days is not a long time for a vehicle to sit. Plus a vehicle should be able to sit a year and not start up like this guys did. How long do you think a new vehicle sits on the dealer lot without getting started? Some of them go months.
