Silverado Voodoo Programming

i was wondering if anyone had a list of all the things you can program on the late model silverado (mine: 2001 1500HD). for example:

- oil change light reset: turn ign. key on, pump pedal 3 times

- door lock over 15mph: turn ign key on, something with high beams?

basically a listing of all these would be helpful for reference if it's not already somewhere on gm-trucks.com in case anyone knows of it's location....

Turn off Daytime Running Lights, push the dome light override button 4 times (you have to do it every time you start the car).

You can get the door locks to lock and unlock in various combinations i.e lock at 15mph and unlock when key removed etc. but you will have to look through your manual to find out how.

great so other than what we have:

1. reset oil reminder (msg center)

2. daytime running lights

3. door locks

are there other things you can program that other folks know?

Is this primarily for the 2001 and newer models? Mine is a 1999 Silverado 5.3 with the new body style keyless entry. But dont know if it's the Voodoo setup...?

1999Silverado, it should work on your truck too. I believe the electronics should be the same...

cyclejerk i found this on-line:

To program your locks read these instructions all the way through first and then follow them:

Put the key into the ignition but leave it OFF (don't turn the key). This is very important.

Pull the turn signal/multifunction lever towards you (as if you were turning on your high beams) and hold it. Do not release the lever. This is also very important.

While still holding the turn signal lever towards you turn the key to RUN (not START) and then back to OFF (not ACCESSORY) twice. When you return the key to the OFF position for the second time release the turn signal. The door locks should lock and unlock. If this does not happen you need to repeat steps one through three.

You now have 30 seconds to reprogram the door locks. You have four possible options

ALL DOORS LOCK/DRIVER'S DOOR UNLOCKS

On the driver's door press the Lock Button once and then the Unlock Button once.

ALL DOORS LOCK/ALL DOORS UNLOCK

On the driver's door press the Lock Button once and then the Unlock Button twice.

ALL DOORS LOCK/NO DOORS UNLOCK

On the driver's door press the Lock Button once and then the Unlock Button three times.

NO DOORS LOCK/NO DOORS UNLOCK

On the driver's door press the Lock Button twice.

If you want to cancel reprogramming the door locks during this time simply turn the key to RUN (not START) and the doors will lock and unlock again. This indicates the procedure has been cancelled and the original setting has been retained.

If you take longer than thirty seconds the doors will automatically lock and unlock, also indicating the procedure has been cancelled.

You can reprogram the locks as many times as you like.

Originally for an Avalanche but i noticed they were the same as my Silverado's. Besides GM is known for rustling and re-using anything they can from their parts bins (ie; Syclone)

Here's the link if y'all want to check out some other programmable fctns:

I printed off the instructions, but alas, no luck. Here's a little more info about my ride. 1999 Silverado with the new body style, 5.3L and remote keyless entry. The RKE has lock, unlock and panic buttons. Doors (reg cab) lock at 15 mph. Maybe the first models didnt have the Voodoo setup? Is there anyway to verify this? Any other ideas?

:thumbs::sigh::D Remberto,

you are the man. I just printed this as well am will give it a try later. My 99 does not lock / unlock at all, As if it has never been programed, I hope I have luck.

Thanks again. :cool::flag:

1999 locks cannot be programmed.

You have to switch to a 2000 or newer BCM for it to work. That's what I did since I needed a new BCM anyway to make my factory keyless entry work.

I suppose you could also pay a dealer to reprogram your 1999 BCM with 2000 code, but I found it cheaper to just pick one up from Ebay.

You guys might check your owners manuals a little closer. My wife had a 98 Grand Prix and it told how to program the lock in the manual. In the Grand Prix, it involved pulling fuse while you were programming.

In my pickup, I don't have these hassles. If I want the passenger door unlocked, I reach across the seat and unlock it. Oh the joys of manual locks and windows.
