My first pickup truck

Recommended Posts

Hi -

I just recently acquired my first pickup truck last month. Picked up a 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 High Country. I came from a highly modified 2013 BMW M5. It's taking some time to adjust to the truck coming down from 830HP ... haha

I also had a 2013 Chevrolet ZL1 that was also highly modified.

I haven't started any mods yet on the truck, I am really trying not to modify the truck as I purposely picked up a truck to keep my mod addiction at bay. The struggle is real

I did make some cosmetic changes...

1. Blacked out bow tie

2. Limo tinted all 4 windows and 25% rear

3. Vinyl wrapped the front grill

Good call getting rid of the chrome. I don't know why chrome front ends are making such a big comeback. So ugly imo. Especially the new Fords.

Nice new truck! You certainly went straight for the top! While it isn't 830 hp, I'm sure it'll keep you out of trouble with the police. That's why I drive a truck now instead of a muscle car. The speeding tickets and legal fees were making the car more expensive than I planned for.

BTW, they do make a mean supercharger for your truck. Not to tempt you or anything. ;)

I agree - it's a huge eye sore ... its amazing how different the truck looks with the front grill wrapped. I left the innner grill slots chrome to blend in with the rest of the truck. Came out perfect.

I was either going with the High Country or the Denali 6.2L to keep me somewhat happy especially coming down from an M5. My wife was afraid I'd go into depression selling my cars. Haha

As for tickets, that wasn't even my problem, I was running jammers and a stealth radar system that worked very well. Only got one ticket and that was for jamming lol

My biggest problem was the addiction to modding. Now that they are gone, I feel actually relived. It was someone of a very bad hobby or habit. I was always thinking about the cars.

I did see the SC ... thank god it's a lease.

Haha same issues...I can't leave anything alone, currently running a 991 gt3

Beautiful car! I almost picked up a Turbo S last year. I was so glad that my wife came with me and nagged to the point that I gave up and walked out without it lol

Overall i like it. Not sure how i like leaving the chrome bars only because it is not even, 1 top and 2 lower. Maybe swap something aftermarket in there to make it look slightly more even. Question on the tint, why 5% on 4 sides and only 25% out back? The rear sides are now darker than anything else. I like running limo too but these days i use it on the rear 3 windows and legal on the front 2. Having it on the back window blocks headlights nicely.

I hate to break it to ya but the mod lists are just as long for these trucks haha!!

You are very right and I know I'll break down and do it. Right now I have my eye on the following.

- Backflip G2 bed cover

- 2" Level Kit

- Volant or K&N intakes

- Kinney's custom true dual tunnel ram exhaust system. Best sounding exhaust system I've ever heard on a truck.

- Handheld tuner or custom tune. Haven't decided yet.

Nice lookin' truck. I really like that black car next to your truck in the garage too!

Be careful running true duals. They limit the low end torque on the truck. And as previously stated trucks are highly customizable. Even performance wise. Did you get 2wd or 4wd I can't remember. I love seeing 2wd low ( not lowered) race trucks. Also welcome to the forum great place here!
