Air Raid MIT Fuel Milage

Installed the AIRAID 200-985 Modular Intake Tube and after driving about 1k miles I almost get the feeling that its hurting my gas mileage. I drive the same route and the same speed consistency and I also have the stock filter. What's everyone else's experience?

man i dont want to hear that.. i was thinking about getting one!!... i'll wait for more feedback

I could see that to an extent. When I do mine, I'm most likely going to put in a full kit, not just the tube. I think if you at least changed the filter out that you would notice a positive difference. I plan on removing the factory box and everything and doing a complete swap for the full experience. Go big or stay at home

I have read on here that disconnecting your negative battery cable for 10 mins and then reconnecting will cause the computer to 'relearn'. I think that has helped some folks. May want to give it a try.

A motors fuel efficiency is 100% load based. These tubes do not alter the load. A fella's right foot does. Often what happens is you now hear your motors intake air rush. It sounds tough and you like the sound it makes under a bit more peddle.

The advert sounds enticing. 400 more CFM. WOW, that will make allot more power! Not so much. Here's the breakdown. That's the ENTIRE air rate for a 4.3 at 5,500 rpm. It's 2/3's the air rate of a 6.2 at 6,500 rpm.

Most things like this move the power curve around a few horsepower based on harmonics for stock or near stock engines and alter the sound a bit. The most important part of that device is the air filter. Make sure it's a good one. I'd say IMHO but it isn't an opinion. It's the science.

I didn't notice any difference going from the stock air tube to the MIT.

Cooler air, more o2, more fuel used, and add in the winter blend

Actually the air is no cooler.

All the cold air kits draw from the same area as the stock airbox.

The ones with the open top actually might be warmer air...........

Funny you would say that. My Scan Gauge shows the inlet air to be no more than 3-4 degrees different (warmer) than ambient...ever. Could be because the stock box inlet is in the right front fender panel.

He meant cooler ambient air temperature, as it's fall.

The 4 degrees or so warmer holds true if you're moving. Once you're in stop and go traffic or idling it climbs really fast.

bought my truck In May, noticing a significant mpg loss in this colder weather

My Average mpg's went up in the summer. I have noticed a loss of 1mpg now with the colder weather. How many miles are on your stock air filter? With all the holiday sales here now you can get an airfilter like k&n on sale. I saw that you can get 20% off at www.autoanyting.com yesterday.
