Rear mudflap damage

Recommended Posts

Posted

Hey guys a few days ago a semi blew a tire right in front of me. I had no choice but to run over the damn tire as I had no time to move. I pulled over and saw this damage done to my mudflap.

Any suggestions on how to fix this?

Thanks in advance.

Straighten the sheet metal with a pliers and buy a new flap?

Take the damaged one off the go to the other side and take it off too.

That's what I was thinking, but would the paint take a beating with rocks and debris hitting it?

I would just bend it back and put the flap back on.

Yeah I may do that. Unfortunately I don't have a jack here where I am at. I am currently between homes. I'll need to remove the tire to really get some leverage to push it back in.

I took off those forward mud-flap thingies in front of the tires a long time ago - haven't had any issues or paint chips - maybe those are there to help gas mileage - truck looks better without them imho...

They're called aerospats. They're there to deflect air and help gas mileage. Some take them off because it looks better without them. Others keep them for that 1 mpg increase.

I took both mine off the day I got the truck and, so far, no problem. My truck will be 3 years on 1-27-17.
