Door locks 2016 GMC Sierra

When the truck is running with the key in the ignition our truck will lock. I put my grandson in his car seat in the rear seat in the running truck at -35C and as I shut the backseat door the truck locked. Shockingly my grandson was locked inside my 2016 running truck and I am standing outside in -35C. The dealership informed me that it was a timed lock. What a heart stopper!!

My 2015 did the same thing today, but it only locked the driver side door and I know I didn't lock it by accident with my arm. Luckily, the other 3 doors were unlocked.

I had the truck running, phone inside it. When it went to get back in, I couldn't believe the driver door was locked!

isn't there a feature for door locking under the "options" menu (or something like that)

 

i know i can't lock myself out of my 2014.

 

at times it's annoying becuz i always have to use the fob to lock the truck, but at the same time i can't lock my kids/keys in the truck

I haven't had an issue yet with my truck auto locking (2014 MY) but I always makes sure to grab my phone while the truck is running so I can use the Onstar app to open it up if it ever does

I have a key holder that separates in 2 pieces. One piece has the keys and the other has the fob. When I need to leave my truck running with the keys inside I will separate them, shut and lock the door with the fob and put the fob in my pocket. Truck stays locked and running while I'm outside. When I need to get back in just unlock with the fob and go.

If equipped, when locking the doors

with the power lock switch and a

door open, the doors will lock

five seconds after the last door is

closed. Three chimes signal that

delayed locking is in use.

Pressing the power lock switch

twice overrides the delayed locking

feature and immediately locks all

doors.

This feature will not operate if the

key is in the ignition.

Turn delayed locking on or off using

vehicle personalization. See Vehicle

According to the OP his keys were in the ignition but, what you quoted says it does not operate with the key in. If this happened as he says then it looks like a trip to the dealer.
