Hvac door recalibration?

Recommended Posts

After disconnecting my battery, and reconnecting it, I hear the blend door of my 2003 Silverado making a "clicking noise" and the air is stuck on defrost, from what I read is the mode door supposed to be recalibrated after the battery is disconnected? If so how would I do that procedure, any responses are appreciated

A re-calibration may fix you up. Try disconnecting the battery for
a few minutes. Reconnect it. Or remove the HVAC/ECAS fuse for a minimum of 10 seconds.

Re-install the HVAC/ECAS fuse.

Then turn the key to the on position, but
don't start. Don't touch the HVAC controls. Let them do whatever that
want to do. Air flow may change outlet points during this time. Wait
about 1 minute. Turn key off. Opening and closing the door can
make a difference as the vehicle controls see this as "cycle"
completion. Next start the vehicle and drive it a short distance and see
how it performs. You may indeed need to replace an actuator.

If the reset don't do the trick it's not too complicated to remove the old and replace with a new actuator.

I had the same issue in my 99 Silverado and replaced both actuators under my dash for the fix. Decided to replace both lower actuators, fan blower and cabin filters because after I got in there things looked old and never touched plus my fan blower was noisey.

Just something to think about. I have found it necessary to remove both a/c heater fuses because of a small voltage transfer from the blower motor fuse under the hood. One is labeled hvac 1 in the passenger compartment fuse block. The other is labeled frt (front) hvac in the under hood fuse block.
