1340 miles and no vibration issues.

I have 16k miles now. Since day one, it has had a slight vibration that starts at 75mph and ends at 79mph. I have a 2014 silverado before this 15 Sierra, and the silverado was way worse with the shakes, so I am not complaining about the sierra. I'll live with making sure I don't drive in the 75-79mph range.

Mine has 2900 miles on it and it rides smooth. I really prefer it over my outgoing Ford. The seats are much more comfortable and the suspension is just great for highway driving. The only misgiving (but not really) I have is the stiffness of the front suspension. I have to crawl over speed bumps or it'll launch me into the ceiling.

I actually prefer a very stiff suspension, especially for a truck. I just gives me the confidence that it can handle the load. Soft suspension is for Oldsmobiles...:lol::lol:

I just turned 1,000 miles on my '17 with 8 speed. I have a slight vibration from the steering wheel at 70+ and I am hoping it's wheel balance......really hoping it's wheel balance.

Oh I just bought my truck, nothing wrong with it. But I'm Just gonna trade for another one. "Not" I'm stuck with this truck for a long while.

Zero vibes unless I hit any type of imperfection in the road. Getting impatient on wearing down stock tires, anxious for new vibration/ jiggle free tires. I pray this is my fix.

20k so far on this truck:)

I hi-jack your happy thread!

Unbalanced wheels and crap tires new from factory happens. My old 2003 Ranger had a problem with crap tires and a horrible mis-aligned front end from factory. Tire wear on the inside was the worst Ive ever noticed on ANY vehicle. Ford assured me it was a tire defect and not an alignment issue. Their fix was to replace all tires with same brand and type only a little larger sized. Heck, I wasn't going to argue with that! Same thing with irregular tire wear happened again in the same time frame so I switched tires myself and went with BFG A/T KOs and never had irregular wear again. Later on when the BFGs finally had to be replaced I went with Michelin LT tires and finally had a real front end alignment performed and it was waaaay off. My next three new Ford vehicles had front end alignments done in the first 400 miles on my dime. They were all mis-aligned from the factory. And half of them wobbled at anything above 65mph.

I do know this. I can fit 2 toddlers, 2 dogs camping gear, pull a sailboat and transport my happy wife in this truck. I'm happy about that:)

I don't see this as a hijack as you're happy with your truck! , I was waiting for my tires to wear out because of poor traction in wet weather. I decided to go with new Michelin Defenders at 20k (kms) with very little wear on my OEM Bridgestones. New tires improved an already great ride! You can usually sell or trade-in your lightly used tires. I decided that I am never going to enjoy the expense of new tires and may as well get the most out of my truck now!

Last night I noticed a bit more than usual of the gears flip flopping between fourth and fifth I guess when doing 30-35mph and feathering the gas pedal on and off lightly. I'd hear and feel a pretty good clunk nearly every time I touched the pedal and let off. Then on the way home I stopped at a fast food joint and was waiting in line and pulled up to the window and heard a good bang and it literally felt like I'd just been rear ended as my truck lurched forth. Clanged and banged into and out of gears the rest of the way home it seemed like. Is this part of the adaptive learning curve? If I was in manual mode and had it in fourth or fifth I got none of that so I'm sure the truck was just trying to make it's mind up which gear it wanted to be in in Drive mode. Today it didn't seem nearly as bad. Just another happy observation! Getting the factory oil changed out tomorrow so I'll speak to the service manager and see what he thinks is going on LOL.

I had some clunks at first but none now. It takes a Bit of learning the shift. I'm happy with transmission:). Great approach truck. Here is a link of truck pics with 4-wheeler.

That's a real nice Silverado!

The clunking I heard the other night followed a few WOT runs just to start burnishing the piston rings good before I changed the oil. Hardly heard any of it yesterday and for all intents, none of it today. Service guy said the adaptive module is still in learning mode. Not to worry. One other thing, before the other day when my truck was running in V4, other than the occasional shudder I couldn't tell by the quietness of the engine that it was in V4 vs V8 mode. Now all the sudden I hear a very, very low level buzz-drone and can almost feel it in the gas pedal when it's in V4 if I'm paying attention. Is that something that shows up during break in? Again, the service guy said that was normal so, as long as it's normal I don't really care, I just want my truck to be good and reliable!

Enjoy your truck and enjoy reading this forum. When you almost feel something very, very low if you're paying attention then I suspect you've just read a thread on this particular topic! One suggestion is that when you have a concern that you need to ask your service advisor about, keep note of the conversation. The "this is normal" comment is something like your Doctor saying "if the pain persists in two weeks. see me again". There is a 99% chance the concern (or pain) will go away but if it doesn't you want to go to the next level of care. With your truck, Step 2 is usually "we couldn't replicate the problem"! (lol)

My Denali had vibration issues. Dealer replaced a couple of the tires and rebalanced several times. No change. The vibrations almost all went away when I switched to Michelins that were road forced balanced. Then I had a slight vibration at ~80mph. It would make the passenger seat vibrate back and forth, and it stayed even across routine tire rebalances. I figured that was just the nature of the truck, and assumed it was likely the driveshaft. Just put on a new set of Michelin LTX defenders at a different shop, and now the 80mph vibration is gone! Truck is uber smooth.

After two years of owning it, this is the first time I can say I am actually enjoying driving it...

You suspect I just read a thread on this particular topic? Are you kidding me?? I've read all of 'em lol! The GMCs have lots going on with the engine and transmissions in the early stages of breaking in that I've not experienced in other makes. Not a complaint just an observation. Today the low level buzz etc was nearly unnoticeable and in my little 5 mile journey this morning I never noticed any of the shuddering and no clunking of gears. I have noticed in the last week I'm driving around with the fan low and the radio off so I can really hear what's going on so maybe some of the stuff I'm noticing has been there but I just drowned it out with the radio etc. But in the last couple days things are settling down and my positive sense that I bought the right truck at the right time remain strong as ever.

Did get a chance to compare with my brothers new Dodge Ram Rebel the other night. The 5.7 Hemi and the 8 speed transmission are very nice and make for a torque-y powerful combination. He really liked the interior of the GMC and the ride quality of the Sierra was quite a bit smoother than the big Dodges with his oversized off road tires. The GMC was also quite a bit better isolated from outside wind and traffic noises. Both nice trucks with their own sets of charms. If I was going to trade in every three yrs I guess I could be happy with the Rams but I like to go 8-12yrs with a reliable daily driver if I can. GMCs seem to give the best shot at attaining that long term ownership between the two makes IMO.

    • I have ordered the car link adapter and registered for the google dev, will need to finish verification process later this evening when I get ahold of our kiddos android tablet. I will be using windows vs mac so hopefully it goes smoothly. I have zero tech background but I feel I can manage this with your write up.    Do you think it will be different for me? My truck is a 2023 GMC 1500, I have looked heavily into the AI boxes but I consistently find common complaints with lag.    Does carplay auto open now that you have it set up when you get in truck and turn it on? Or do you have to do open the app everytime?
    • I figured you would know about it.
    • It added a cost layer to an already limited production supply. True that.
    • Swap costs and supply/demand balance. When a barrel comes out of the ground the entire range of products are present but not all at the same percentage.    Breakdown of Refined Products The following table summarizes the approximate output from a standard 42-gallon barrel of crude oil: Product Type Gallons per Barrel Percentage of Total Gasoline 20 gallons 45% Diesel Fuel 9 gallons 21% Other Products 13 gallons 31%   Most of that diesel figure is 'straight run' or cut from the barrel. Gasoline 'cut from the barrel runs 0 to 20% at the crude. So in the crude unit there is more diesel the gasoline, usually.  The full refining experience however gives the tabled values. Ego there is half the diesel than gasoline after the 'first crack' That could be an FCC unit, or Isomax or....   Those units take heavy products and break the big ones into little ones. Those numbers are harder to get hold of but directionally it ends up the same.    Really light products are very profitable. Ethylene and Propylene to name two. Those are cracked from slightly heavier feeds like NG and Propane and Ethane. The cracker harshness determines the feed for distillation. Those feeds come from less profitable products like diesel and gasoline.    So...there is a swap cost. How much market is there TODAY and what crude am I running TODAY..... what is my process capable of always.    There is this as well. The USA uses allot more gasoline than it does diesel so in the cracker the process is tilted to gasoline production which....limits supply of diesel. OTR uses the most and it has different requirements than automotive and agricultural.  Limiting auto products.    You are correct however. It is less refined, just less of it. Allot less.
