17' Center Console/Cup Holders

On my 14' this section you could pull out and it had some nice storage under it! On my 17' it doesn't......Any idea why they did any with this?

Cheaper to produce but you can go back.

I think they did it because of noise. There were a lot of complaints about squeaks on the 2014/2015 trucks. There was even a PI showing Techs how to tear the cupholders out and put felt flocking tape on them. By making the cupholder/storage cubby all 1 piece they eliminated a lot of the places where plastic was rubbing against plastic.
