GMC 2014 5.3 or 2015 6.2

I'm am looking at a couple of truck both SLT's 8K price difference and 56k miles on the 14 and 27k on the 15. my question is that i have to tow my camper which is about 6,000 lbs.. will the 5.3 be more then enough? or would i be better off spending more and getting the 6.2? they both have a tow package. i currently drive a 97 tahoe that is getting tired and it differently knows im pulling the camper.

The 5.3 will tow just fine but if you have the money go for the 6.2. Less miles and it will tow alot more

I test drove several trucks before I determined exactly what I wanted and 6.2 with less miles would be my pick hands down.

Towing your camper you most likely will get better gas mileage since the 6.2 will not be working as hard as the 5.3.

 

Plus with the 6.2 at 27K you can purchase the extended warranty if you would like to since it still under 36K bumper to bumper warranty

What everyone else has said. If you have the money, get the 6.2. If not, the 5.3 will be fine.

6.2L your getting the same if not better MPG than the 5.3 and you will have more than enough power!

6.2 can acheive better mileage on daily cummutes, but it depends solely how you drive it. The 5.3 will do the job, but i havent met anyone yet who crys for more from the 6.2. i am glad i switched.

6.2 > 5.3, 5.3 is more than enough though. The 6.2 won't get better gas mileage, a few have said they have but tests have shown otherwise and it is a larger motor, more fuel to go in. If someone were to baby the 5.3 in the same way a 6.2 is babied in these mpg threads a 5.3 will get better mpg. The 6.2 may get better mileage towing as it doesn't have to work as hard but again, it is a larger motor and takes more fuel in the same displacement so take that as you will. If it were me and the price didn't matter then newer and less mileage over older hands down unless the price was astronomically different...

I would go with the 6.2 for this reason, the 5.3 could have the 3.08 gearset which means maximum capability of 6,600 pounds. You would be close to maxing out towing the camper.

6.2 you won't regret, best towing, and fun to drive solo.
