Just got delivery of my new 2017 Chevy 1500 Crew Cab, Wondering if anyone has any advice for video playback via USB? I have tried formatting NTFS, and FAT32, converted to 640x340 handbrake for .mp4. tried multiple times. I made 2 folders audio, video, I can play the audio but no video is even seen.. any help? Thanks

fyi: I would love to have WAZE and or full phone mirroring for Netflix etc....

thanks all

Huh????? Stock unit plays videos just fine. I have a '16 w/Nav head (no rear video) and can't believe they changed it.

No big deal....just transfer *.mp4 files either in folders or directly in the root directory......it doesn't care. Plug chip into one of the USB ports in the console. I use one for audio files and a second for video files. Press audio off the main My Link screen and then press the media button on the audio screen first press hits usb1 and plays audio files, second press hits usb2 video files and the video (with audio) starts playing! After about 10 seconds the control button overlay disappears and you get full 8" screen video. Browse button presents list of all video files stored on the chip regardless of whether they are in folders or on the root directory.

Photo is a Tomi Lahren video file downloaded directly off Youtube to the thumbdrive with no alterations or transform of the file.

thanks for link above I will check it out, and thomcat that seems like what I want to do just fine, however, I have placed about 10 different types of mp4 videos on my thumb drive and it just wont display them or even list them as existing on the drive once plugged into the truck... this is getting annoying. I will try a different thumb drive.. are you using format of NTSF or FAT32 for the thumb drive? TY

Running Windows 10, USB 3.0 slot and Toshiba 32Gig thumbdrive ........FAT 32.

GM gives us a real mixed bag here.

Only used the Silverado when playing videos while the wife shops.

Tried the same thumbdrive in my new '17 Impala with a non-Nav head and it recognizes the names of the folders but will not display names in them or play the *.mp4 files either in the folders or on the root drive. Maybe only the 8" head with Nav can play video files or maybe they changed it for '17.

In addition tried it on the 6" Nav head in my '15 Traverse and when the chip is inserted, the USB port on the touchscreen shows inactive and it will access USB via the media button only if there are audio files on the chip. But when the Picture icon is pressed on the touchscreen all*.jpg picture files even those buried a few subfolders down are shown and the pictures viewed on the screen.

Bottom line is only my '16 Silverado with 8" Nav head can play*.mp4 video files.

Well I just asked my dealer and he said video is not supported in my truck, I let him know in 2016 it was so he was going back to service to see if I can "go back" a version or two and or get a later update... this is a huge BS move on Chevy's behalf.. for the amount of $$ these trucks cost nowadays its unacceptable... they just want us to go buy 3rd party expensive overrides I guess. but even that's limited.. I also cannot wait for Android Auto to hurry up with WAZE maps to come out.. *I have IOS and Android so I would still be happy with it on Android*

also if anyone can confirm that their 2017 8" mylink with nav but no rear seat ent. is working for videos that would be helpful. TY

If android auto had waze capability I'd use it. Otherwise it stays turned off!

I really could care less for video in motion and feel no one should be allowed to use it but video is parked is something that should be a given.. I have a new USB coming in mail today. doubt it will matter since the usb I am using now works for audio... this is really frustrating

I installed a plug and play module (with the exception of a 12v igniton feed) in a customer's truck that let him mirror his smart phone or anything with a USB or HDMI cable. It worked pretty good.

I believe it was this one:

https://www.gm-navigation.com/shop/video-input-module-2/

So this leaves all of the factory settings in place and working with the second screen? along with all of the steering wheel controls ?

Id love to be able to Mirror onto my 2016 factory deck. so i could have navigation
