MyLink went all black - cost with no warranty

Hi guys,

Yes another thread on mylink, but this time wanting to know what you guys are getting charged to get it fixed out of warranty. I see lots of threads on warranty work but no cost.

I replaced the oil and rotated tires yesterday and went to start the truck and no screen, no reverse, no nothing. I do get radio but that's it. I pulled the fuse, unhooked the battery and still no screen, no back light, just dead. Restarted many time and even drove it today to work thinking it might actually reset, no prevail.

Was curious if anyone had the dealer look at it and what it would approximately charge? either the HMI module, or radio or even maybe just a reflash?

TIA!

I have an Intellilink (same as the Mylink) that has gone completely blank about six times since I have owned the vehicle. It also disconnects BT, but the sound still plays. After a minute or two, it will automatically start up again and connect to BT. When it starts back up, sound goes away. Doesn't seem to be any reason for it to happen such as a hitting large bump, weather, etc. It just happens.

Have not had the dealer look at it,yet. But have talked to the service adviser and he says never heard of it before.

UPDATE

Wanted to just close out this topic and give everyone an update on what ended up happening.

Took it into the dealer and on my way turned over 50,000 miles. Guys diagnosed it thinking it just needed a reflash and ended up being the HMI module/cable w/e it is. They didnt have the part on hand so it was ordered.

They felt that it was a bit redic that it went out at only 50k miles so they called GM and GM is covering all expenses. I do pay a $100 deductible though. Definitely feel that it was worth it.

Anyone know if the "Fix" is actually a fix or if its more of a patch and might happen again later?

On my '14 Silverado when I first got it I changed the cabin air filter... Well, start the truck and no screen, but hear audio. Short story, there's a cable that runs from the screen to the HMI module, had a short. Worst part, had the truck a week, sitting there saying how the heck could changing the cleaner wig out the screen :)

Yup, took 4 Torx screws to remove the bottom glovebox. As soon as I touched the blue connector, my screen came back. 10 minutes. Easy peasy.

I bought my 2014 Silverado with about 50k miles. Didn’t get any kind of extra coverage and about a month in my screen also went blank. Took it to the dealer I bought it from and they wanted to charge $200-$300 to fix. Didn’t think I should have to pay so I didn’t fix it. Touch screen still worked and so did the music so I just switched to the music screen in the dashboard and was able to control it from there. I read this thread yesterday and what Txrph said above works. Take four screws out of the bottom glove box look for that blue cable I unplugged it and plugged it back in and problem solved. I think the dealer says they have to order it and will replace it just to charge when in reality it’s not necessary.
