Hello,

So I am just trying to figure out if my ABS pump is bad. My mechanic told me that both the module and pump need replacing. The pump stays on when the car is shut off, which usually is the result of a bad module, but my mechanic said the reason the pump needs to be replaced is he hooked up a positive wire only to the pump without a ground wire and the pump started working. He said that the pump should not turn on since the module is what grounds the pump. So he said that the unit must of shorted and is getting a ground from the frame or brake lines when its not suppose to. Does that sound right?

Sounds right to me - an internal short will do that.

GM really hit it out of the park with the location of the pump unit ... :nonod:

This vid should help:

Okay. It made sense to me to but part of me was hoping it made no sense since these pumps are so expensive lol. I found the AC Delco pump for 340 are those any good or should I take my chances with a used one.

Depends on how long the OEM one lasted - if your truck is a '13, you might want to try aftermarket. If it's a '00 with lots of city driving, then the Delco one would probably be fine.

I'd steer clear of anything used for anything in the braking system - just my opinion.

Okay thank you. I have a 2001 Tahoe normally 340 is not bad but I just spent 2k on replacing brake lines rotors pads and calipers. So right now even 40 seems a lot to me lol.
