I'm not so sure of that. I have a 2017 w/ 6.2 and I have the same fuel pump priming when I open the door.

Definitely has a mechanical pump.

Ok so what pump is priming up when the drivers door is opened???

From a quick internet search looks like all of the DI motors use mechanical pumps. Is there possibly a electric booster or priming pump?

I could take a pic of it if you'd like.

Mine does the same thing, I do know the 6.2 has a mechanical pump. It has a roller and runs off the cam. I'm working on the launch of the 6.2 in Spring Hill,Tn. And happened to notice it while delivering parts.

Actually the DI engines use two pumps due to how high the fuel pressure requirements are, that is why the 2017+ trucks are now priming the pump when the drivers door opens. It lessens the engine start time requirements.

Negative. I'm not say I don't believe you and I agree they use a mechanical pump. I'm just wondering if there is still an electric secondary pump in place. I stood by the rear tire just now when I used the remote start and there is an electric pump sound coming from the tank area before startup. Same sound as when you open the driver door. Just curious is all.

It's all good man, just figured you may want to see it. It's a pretty wild setup. But yes there is definitely an electronic primer or helper pump because I here the same thing on my 17. My 15 5.3 did not have this.

It's common for bigger engines to have a low pressure pump in the tank and a high pressure pump on the engine.

What you hear is the low pressure pump.

The radio come on too he he.

That makes sense, even my dfi mercury outboard has 2 pumps also.

Primer pump, fuel pump runs off the cam.

Lets clear this up.

All GM SIDI engines have TWO fuel pumps. A supply/low pressure pump, and a high pressure pump.

The Supply/Low pressure pump, and the entire fuel system leading to the high pressure pump, is more or less EXACTLY the same as the GMT-900 trucks. You have a fuel tank (duh), and an in tank fuel pump module/sender assembly. Traditional fuel pressure for EFI is supplied out of it, <> 60psi. There is one feed fuel line from the pump to the high pressure pump, and then the EVAP Purge pipe.

The High Pressure Fuel Pump is located on the engine. Specifically, at the back of the valley of the engine, right about where a distributor would have been on an ol' 350. It is mechanically driven, via the camshaft, which has a special tri-lobe that the pump follower rides on. The follower meets the big spring on the bottom of the pump. This pump is capable via the ECM of 290 to 2,176 psi of fuel pressure.

So. Yes they have a mechanical pump. Yes they have a supply pump. No, it is not a mechanical only deal like an old carbureted car using a "vacuum" to pull fuel to the pump.

Took truck to another dealer, said it was the afm... I watch it go into v8 mode on a hill and it's bucking...."normal" he said... bastards have me locked into a 3 year lease... this is the last Chevy I'll ever own... bought many new trucks since 1998....will not recommend to anyone I know.

And an electric in-tank pump to feed said mechanical pump.

One of the field engineers came by today and said GM is working on the "fish biting" as he called it. The GM engine team says the transmission needs more slip and the transmission team says they can't put any more slip in without posing a risk to damage the transmission. So as soon as they get it all figured out there will be an update for the transmission software.

He said to drive it in tow haul mode or manual 5 and it won't happen.
