Dealer told me pretty much the same as everyone. GM knows about it and blah blah. I think, personally, they have a fix, just preparing for the large amount of trucks that will need to be prepared. But who the hell knows

Those who want to jump ship because of an annoyance GM is working on should check the other forums. All manufactures have issues when they come out with new technology. One of the main reasons there are so many people on forums is so they can discuss the issues they are having and get info and reassurance from those in the business or those with the same problems.

P.S Brian2015

Gm is not going to void your warranty for installing a cold air kit, specially not for something that is happening with all their new trucks. I have a CAI, shorty headers and a tune, my dealership said the only issue would be if there was a catastrophic engine failure. Then the tune would be an issue if the motor was running outside of normal parameters at the time of the failure.

Thanks, I have the Airaid MIT, I wondered if that was the cause of the stumble so I reinstalled the factory airduct disconnected the battery but no change.

I have a 17 silverado CC z71 and I'm experiencing the same surge type feel. I had a 14 cc, which did the same thing, but not near as often as this 17. Almost feels like a misfire. I've had my truck since December 2016. ONLY ONE DAY, it didn't do it at all and I was very very stoked at how good the truck drove. I gave it 3000k miles to go away, but the surge/hesitation is still here. Scheduled to take my truck in Tuesday. I may force them to keep it till a fix is avail. It bug the heck out of me that these trucks do this as bad as they do.

They should not be selling these trucks to anyone without checking them first.

Even if they have to custom tune each truck with issues.

These are not in expensive trucks.

Therefore we should expect more.

I feel your pain.

You are having the same problem as me. GM has got a bulletin out but no fix as of 1/09/2017. GM is aware of the problem. Keep after the dealer for the fix. I think it's a problem in the computer programming.

you guys are so impatient. There will be a fix soon. The 14-16s don't do it so I'm sure they'll fix the software.

I don't see what the big deal is.

I forgot to update this that the new software for the TCM was out as of the 13th.

I haven't done mine yet, or any customer's trucks so I can't comment on if I've seen any differences yet.

.02....Oh that's a great idea! Get a custom tune which will invalidate the warranty and just give GM the excuse they need to tell you to disappear altogether.

Does anyone have a printable version of the tsb #17-NA-070? I bought a 17 silverado 2 weeks ago and I noticed when cruising at 45-60 mph with the tach between 1k-1500 and when starting up a hill and slowly increasing the pedal to keep my speed the truck starts to feel like its miss firing and starts to buck slightly but other then that the truck runs and drives great. Going to call my dealer tomorrow and see what they have to say but I'd like to have a printout of the tsb.

Sorry to hear about your truck Dleye, its very discouraging that Gm/ dealer will not stand behind they're product and take care of you. Makes me wonder if it was a Ford, Dodge, or any other manufacturers truck, how they'd handle this.

Figured I'd let everyone know I flashed my 2017 with ECM/TCM tuning from Blackbear Performance and the issue is completely gone. The truck also drives so much better! 100% satisfied.

2015 Sierra 5.3 here. I hear the same mechanical sound when I exit the truck. Almost like a pump is turning on.

    • No ETA is available for that engine at the moment in the GM system.   I would start at the dealer.  Try and talk to the parts manager or service manager and see if they can start a CX Connect case and get an ETA from GM on when engines may be available.  If they just check Parts Workbench and say "no eta", they aren't trying hard enough.  They need to do a CX Connect and chat with DPAC to find the ETA.
    • I would have to read back to get a better picture in my mind of some of the other comments and what they were using for a driving scenario they based the fuel mileage off of. That is why the fuel mileage conversation is extremely difficult to make fair comparisons from. If I was to be living in town and only driving around town, light to light and some longer stretches that doesn't have a light every block, and the usual stop at a grocery store and the bank and so on and so forth, my fuel mileage even during the summer time would be so bad with my truck I don't even want to know how bad it would be !. Then add in winter time and idling to warm it up to clear the windows and driving through snowy streets etc, large heavy trucks with gas engines have NEVER been worth crap for fuel mileage and why some little pot licker of a car with wheelbarrow tires and a 1300 cc four cylinder non turbo engine was the ticket to using a mere fraction of the fuel over a full size pickup.    By the way my truck has the 34" tires as its a HC but not the BFG KO3 tires ( that was an option for my truck but the sales guy couldn't figure out what the tires actually were so that never got on the order until it was too late to change the truck order ). So what fuel mileage your getting actually sounds good for "town driving" and with my truck when I go to town the fuel mileage keeps increasing as I get closer to town because it takes quite a while to get the driveline oils warmed up ( and why it always shows better fuel mileage on the return trip from town because its already warmed up ) but once I am in town that fuel mileage average just keeps dropping the more I mess around town and then has to recover back to something reasonable again by the time I get home for an over all average.    I'd be curious what your sticker says for the factory weight of your truck, mine is close around that 7700 lb due to the options it has. But anyway the long and short is, vehicle weight, higher rolling resistance heavy tires and a hefty driveline and a relatively large gas engine make for crap fuel mileage in stop and go scenarios, all one can do is drive it easy off the line at each stop and as my dad had said over the years, drive like a raw egg is under your foot and that's the best one can do. Years back with a carbed engine and if the carb was getting a bit out of tune etc as would the ignition system, the fuel mileage on pickups with larger engines was just awful compared to what your getting. We pay the fuel price penalty for driving HD trucks over some little vehicle, that is the reality.
    • We had two Toyota’s with that engine in the mid 80s. We had 50 gallon fuel tanks, a toolbox full of tools, an air compressor and assorted parts for our equipment. We beat those up and down pipeline ROWs until we started buying diesel trucks. Then they became parts runners and first vehicles for our teenagers first cars. Our shop Forman wrecked them both two years apart when we hired him out of high school as an apprentice. Good thing he’s an excellent mechanic. It took awhile before he could be called a good driver.
