Hey has anyone installed a hidden behind the grill LED light bar? Because I wanted to and ran into some issues on where to mount the bar?? If any can help that be very appreciated!!

All of those are certainly pertinent to 2016 and prior models, but I'm yet to find a post that offers a solution for those of us with 2017 models. The new active aero shutters seem to make it impossible for us to mount a light bar behind the grille.

Would love to see someone figure something out.

Yah I'm almost to the point of abandoning the idea....because I refuse to put the light bar on the roof (past experience). But like you said if anyone can figure it out that would be GREAT!!

I was also looking for a light bar to put on my 2017 sierra. We were wondering how it would be to cut out the up and down plastic brackets at the bottom of the grill and install a 30in bar inside there. It would be in the gap between the chrome pieces in the biggest gap at the bottom. Any thoughts??

You don't need to cut the vertical bars. On a 16 and prior years you could just slap a light bar behind the grill, the vertical would not affect light output. The 17 MY added active shutters behind the grill so mounting a light bar back there is almost impossible.

The real question is can the active shutters be removed without triggering a MIL. If no codes would get thrown if tgey were disconnected tge next question would be how effective are they really, would we even notice a difference in mpg?

Sorry I should have specified. The idea of cutting the vertical braces was to move the light bar flush with the front of the grill so that it doesn't effect the shutters. Only problem is don't know how strong the grill will be with these missing

I'm sure the grill would be fine without the vertical bars, your just have to figure out the mounting hardware as most behind grill setups use the radiator support bracing but that is not accessabe in the 17, it's behind the shutters.

I have a 32 inch,  mounted inside of the shutters,  mounted in the space between them and the condenser.  Fabricated a simple bracet mouned to the core support.  When louvers shut its hidden.

Diode dynamics 6" bars. Swappable lenses. I had to custom fab my own brackets for them. Bottom 2 are on a single switch, top is by itself. Run the bottoms on "wide" fog type lenses (amber right now) since my truck doesn't have OE fog lights. Might be able to fit their larger 12 or 18" bar on bottom without trimming.
